Smoking early pregnancy

OK I thought of something to ask everyone. I am 11 1/2 weeks pregnant and struggling with quitting smoking. What can I do to quit and does it bring my chances up HIGH for miscarriage? will the stress of quitting cause a miscarriage?

uhm no the smoking will harm your baby more than the stress of trying to quit.

Smoking can cause a lot of damage to a tiny fetus. At the 12 week mark your likelihood for miscarriage drops significantly, but that does not mean the baby cannot be mentally or physically damaged by the high toxicity of smoking. I would say smoking is far worse for your baby than the stress of quitting...

Set a date and quit! I am also 11 and a half weeks pregnant and i decided that on such and such date i was going to quit and i did, and worked out fine. It was however my second attempt at quitting and i feel a lot better for it now. I didnt experience hardly any cravings or withdrawal symptoms. Also have a bottle of water that you can sip on it helped me heaps. I think it was cause you use the same sucking motion that you use to smoke. But good luck anyway!!

I would talk to your doctor about this. I was smoking two packs a day before i got pregnant. I am now 8 weeks pregnant and down to 2 cigarettes a day and by next week hopefully none at all. I was advised by my obstetrician to cut down like this rather then quit cold turkey. There are varying opinions on quitting during pregnancy. I know for me the anxiety I had was so awful that this was the best option and I trust my doctor. I'm not proud of it but by next week I will not be smoking any longer

I know how you feel and what you are going through. As soon as I found out I was pregnant with my first baby I quit right away but I always has someone around me smoking and it was really hard for me, but what I did was bought alot of gum and jolly ranchers and starburst. Good luck and be strong.

I thankfully live in a smoke-free home, but if I didn't, I would beg the smoker(s) to please take it outside. Second-hand smoke is not good for a pregnant woman to be around.

My inlaws are smokers, and I do not allow them to smoke around me or my daughter. Even if it's their own home, I ask them to respect my child (and my wishes) enough not to do it in her presence.

As for quitting, it's not easy. It'll probably be one of the hardest things you ever do, and your chances of relapsing are huge. But quitting as soon as possible is the best gift you can give your unborn baby. It's one of a large number of things we mothers need to sacrifice for our children's health.
