Hi
I've had epidurals due to other surgeries
including a hysterectomy. Most
anesthesiologist will put the epidural in
your spine while you are awake, some do
this when you are put under, mine were
done when I was awake they said they do it
this way so they know they are putting it
in the correct location, you should be put
under general anesthesia also during your
surgery. I would prefer to be knocked out
during this operation, I've never heard of
them doing a hysterectomy while you were
awake.
Did the doctor tell you it was one or the
other?
I'm sorry to hear you have to have the
surgery.
Best of luck with your operation.
