My partner had an encounter with a rabid
cat. As a result they got their necessary
shots and what not. I read somewhere that
rabies can be passed to people through
organ transplants. So I was wondering if
my partner could pass rabies to me through
sexual acts?(oral,actual intercourse
etc)

Transmission of rabies between humans is
extremely rare, although it can happen
through transplant surgery, or, even more
rarely, through bites or kisses. The
rabies virus is present in saliva so it
can be transmitted via biting.
Transmission by kissing is possible if you
erosions or cuts in the mouth are present.
There is no data, however, that indicates
that the virus is present in the sperm or
vaginal secretions... so transmission of
rabies through vaginal sex is not
possible. There is a very small
possibility that you can transmit the
virus in cases of oral sex but, as in
kissing, fresh cuts on the genitals must
be present.
