I Got a Heartbeat!

I think I told you guys I was going to the
doctor today about some pains in my
abdomen. Well, she pressed on my
stomach, and it hurt so much I cried out,
so she ordered an u/s. Fortunately,
there was nothing wrong with me or my
baby.
While she was doing the u/s, she found the
baby's heartbeat! We could see and hear
it. She also verified that I was a
little over six weeks pg and she was able
to pin down my due date to 12-27!
This is so exciting!

Thanks! My hubby is even more excited
than me he keeps getting
concerned about every little thing, like
bending over to pick something up,
crossing my arms, drying my stomach after
a shower!
He even got so excited that he let me tell
everybody! That's such a relief to me.
I was having to hide it from the people at
work, and it was so obvious something was
wrong! I feel so much better.

Not to make you embarressed or anything
but sometimes if you have pain down there
it could be gas. That is what they told
me before.

Yeah it was 125 bpm. It's supposed to
get up to 140 by the end. We're in
memphis this weekend where the hubby's
family is. We're breaking the news
today!

You Heard It??

You heard the heart beat at just over 6
weeks pregnant?? How is that so? You
can't really hear the heart beat till
12-14 weeks. I couldn't hear it on my
11th week. But you saw and heard the
heart beat?? Not to be rude, but I find
that hard to believe.

My u/s machine at the docs picks up sound
too, so I think if they could detect a
heartbeat with the u/s they would be able
to hear it... Whenever I got an u/s and
they checked the heartbeat I could hear it
and see it... But it wasnt at 6 weeks or
nothing, but I think if you could detect a
heartbeat they would be able to hear it
too with the u/s if there was sound...
Does anyone not hear the heartbeat at an
u/s? Is the machine they use at my docs
special or what?

Dopler

They use a dopler to hear the heart beat,
and it can't be heard till the 12th-14th
week. They tried on my 11th week and
couldn't find it so they did an u/s. She
is the first person I know to have heard
the heart beat that early. Yes you can
see it that early, but it is really too
small to actually hear at that week.

At my first appointment I found out I was
9 weeks by the u/s but they could not hear
a heartbeat til I was 13 weeks..That is
kinda early to hear it because wouldnt her
babies heart be like microsize? Just
curious but thats cool that u heard it
that early.

I Don't Think So...

I don't know about this person. I am
pretty sure 99.9% that she did not hear
the heart beat that early! Unless they
have some super new dopler that can pic up
very light sound!! And I doubt that.

I have a computer science degree and I can
tell you exactly how they do it. They
use dopler to measure movement on the z
axis, toward and away from the measuring
device. Using the dopler, they record
the visual signal of the heartbeat.
Then, using image processing, they can
convert the video of the movement to a
kind of synthesized sound. So you aren't
hearing the sound waves that the heartbeat
produces, but you are hearing the visual
data.

dopler doesn't measure sound. No dopler
can ever measure sound. Dopler uses
sound waves to measure movement.

Awful. I feel [caps] sooo bad. I can't
wait for these symptoms to go away.
Aren't they supposed to go away soon?
How are you?
