Hi everyone!
Im j/w.. Im on wic already. .But im
planning on moving out when my baby is 3
months old and getting an apartment.. I
make decent money (9 an hour) and work 40
hours.. But the apartments around here
are sooo expensive ! I qualify for
low-income of course..Does anyone know of
any programs or anything that help assist
with living costs when u have a baby? My
mom said she knows some women get help
with paying for their rent etc.. I doubt
a ton, but some.. Do you know of
anything. Do you think I would ask wic?
I mean I would have enough for rent.. But
then on top of that I would have my car
paymment, insurance,grocerys, baby things
etc.. Money would be pretty damn tight.
Even the 1 bedroom apartments here are 500
a month and more! I found one for 425
that I might check out. Most of em are
like 675 and up around here~ and I cant
live in a sh*tty or unsafe area ya know..
No all highclass either but decent*

Call around your area and see if there are
any programs that you would qualify for,
there are many programs that will also pay
for your child's health insurance if you
can not afford it.

Look around in some small towns around
you... Small towns usually have pretty
cheap rent... Around here in a small town
you can get 1br apartments for $300
w/utilities and appliances inc. And they
arent that bad at all, and its kinda hard
to live in a bad part of a small town lol
I dont know if bad parts exist in small
towns. Big towns have expensive rent for
crappy places.

My first place was in a really small town
too, we were paying about 450 a month with
all utilities included, 2bed/2bath
apartment, places like that really help
you save up!

Hey kari,
you can also go to your local churches.
Alot of parishioners rent out apartments
in their homes for really cheap.... And
they do it to help you out. Also, the
church can give you food, formula, even
vouchers for food... There are things
that can help you while pregnant. I
can't exactly remember them right now...
Look up tanf for your state. I'll look
up some stuff... I'll get back to you..
Maybe hrs or something too...

You should consider yourself lucky kari!
Around here rent for a small place is
about a 1k a month!! Because we live so
close the the city.. All houses and
appartments are soooo expensive!.. I know
that doesnt help you at all, just thought
id add.. I dont know of any programs or
anything, but i'd ask wic.

They ony pay for some of your rent with
independent living... I think its
according to your situation and
everything, but you will still have some
rent to pay.

You call that expensive?? Wahh!! Most
places here are $1200-$1500 for 1-2
bedroom apartments! The cheapest are
studios, and they are still $900-$1200!!
Thats why we have room mates!!

Im not sure if what you have there is the
same as here, but you could get low rent
housing. They help pay for part of the
rent each month but the house must past
inspection first and the landlord must be
willing to except that. The waiting list
is usually long to get on it though.
There is also a program which pays for the
deposit and first months rent that I know
of. Youcould also try to get food stamps,
fip, and child support.

The low rent housing is the same as
independent living pretty much... Its
just different in every state I think.

The only thing I can think of is something
called section 8. It's where they help
you pay your rent. My friend sanela was
going to look into gettin on it but I
haven't talked to her since I was at
school is february.

My friend is on section 8! If you have it
in your area, you may need to go apply
early...... So the papers can get started

Yea we have section 8 around here, there
is a big waiting list and u may not get a
place for like 2 years someone told me.
But around here a 2br apartment in a
decent area is about 800-900 a month. But
luckily theres a lot of ppl that are
lookin for roommates and they always are
willing to split everything and sometimes
even pay more. I dont know if i'll ever
get out on my own though!! Im not ready
=(
