Gallbladder Symptoms With Normal Tests Posted: 05-10-04 05:48am
I have been having upper right abdominal
pain that usually occurs about 45 min
after I eat, this is accompanied with lots
of belching, adominal distention, clay
colored stools, sometimes vomiting, chest
pain, upper right back pain and recently
fever. My doctors say that it sounds
like gallbladder. This all started about
9 months ago and they did blood work,
ultrasound, and a hita (i think that is
what it is called) scan which was 39%, and
everything came back normal. I changed my
diet drastically and the symptoms occured
less often. Then about 6 weeks ago they
started again much worse then before, the
doctors did blood work and an ultrasound
again but they were normal. They also
did a endoscope which said I had no
ulcers, but I had a hiatal hernia and
gastritis, which my doctor said could be
causes by all the vomiting I had been
doing. They have not done a hita scan
again yet. This weekend I have been
running a low grade fever between
99.1-99.9 and have had sharp pains instead
of just a constant ache. Should I be
worried about these new symptoms? The
doctors haven't done much since getting
normal test results back and I am getting
really frustrated. I am tired of
hurting. Does this sound like
gallbladder to those who have had it?
And does anyone have any advice for me?
I am desperate for some information.

Someone Help !!!!! Posted: 03-25-06 15:52pm
I am in the same predicament I had a
ultrasound hida scan and ct scan all with
normal results. Everytime I eat
anything fatty milk products etc. I get
bad back pain in both shoulder blades pain
in the upper abdomen between the breast
and I get nautious, feel like it's hard to
inhale and belch alot. I eat alot of
mints that seem to help a little. My
doctor believes its my gallbladder but
needs a positive result its ridiculous
everything else has been ruled out and it
all points to gallbladder , especially
since I have a family history of it.
Hopefully when I go to the doctor thursday
he will decide to do the surgery i'm tired
of living in pain and not being able to
eat the foods I enjoy!! If anyone
else is in the same predicament as me
please let me know thanks........Charleen

Most worrisome is the "clay colored
stools". That points to either a
complete common bile duct blockage (by a
stone). The other likely thing is a
liver problem like hepatitis. The
gallbladder ejection fraction result of
39% is equivical. (boarderline).
Certainly a gallbladder ultrasound was
done. Were their any stones?
I'd get back to the Dr. But don't
be too quick to have the gallbladder
removed until it is proven bad. Too many
people are quick get operated on and then
wind up no better off, or worse.
