Sex & Pregnancy Myths
Posted: 05-13-04 20:45pm

Hey everyone,
i've been thinking for a while that there are so many people out there who don't realise how easy it is to get pregnant whether you're using contraception or not so ive written a list here in which I hope to quash some myths. If any can add anything, that'd be good

1) you can get pregnant when you are on your period,
2) you can get pregnant at any time during your cycle,
3) you can get pregnant from pre-cum,
4) you can get pregnant on your first time having sex,
5) you can get pregnant if you use the pull-out method,
6) you can get pregnant in any position,
7) you can get pregnant if you throw up whilst your on the pill & dont use other precautions,
Cool you can still get pregnant using contraception (be extra careful)
9) you cannot get pregnant from oral sex (some people think u can)

liz x

I have the best, best one

1) you can get pregnant if you have had sex. With or without protection, you can possibly get pregnant. Peroid. Any time of the month, anywhere. You have sex, you run the risk of pregnancy.

I have some...
~you can get pregnant in a pool and any water (some people believe if you have sex in a pool the chlorine will kill the sperm, some people believe if you have sex in any water like a lake or something the water will prevent the sperm from going up and finding its way to the egg)
~you can get pregnant even if you douche after sex...

Sex - fact and fiction
myth: "you can't get pregnant the first time you do it."
reality: it doesn't matter if it's your first time or your 51st time, if you have sex without using contraception, you can get pregnant.

Myth: "if you only do it once, you won't catch anything."
reality: even if you have unprotected sex just once, you could become infected with a sexually transmitted infection (sti), even hiv. So always use a condom (male or female version).

Myth: "if you've got your period, you can't get pregnant."
reality: although most women don't ovulate during their period, some women do. And even if you ovulate up to a week after unprotected sex, you could still get pregnant as sperm can live inside your body for as long as seven days. A woman's cycle is very unpredictable so you must use contraception every time you have sex.

Myth: "you can't get pregnant if the guy withdraws before he comes."
reality: even if the guy successfully withdraws before he comes (which doesn't always happen!), a girl can become pregnant (and catch a sti) from fluid which leaks from the penis before ejaculation.

Myth: "if you do it standing up, you can't get pregnant."
reality: it doesn't matter where you do it, if you don't use contraception when you have sex, you can get pregnant. So that means you have to be careful whether you're doing it standing up, sitting down, lying down, in the bath.

I have another one. Some people think you cannot get pregnant if you (the female) does not orgasm. Don't ask me why.
Yes, you can!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And you can get pregnant on depo!
