I Think I'm Stressing Too Much Posted: 05-14-04 11:18am
Hey all, i'm serendipity and i'm new.
:d
anyways, just a little background info on
me. I'm 17 and ever since I first
started my period, when I was 13, I was
irregular. They range from 2-4 months
apart. But the average is 3 months.
My mom had ovarian cancer and had to get
surgery on her when she was in her early
30's. Diabetes runs in my family..
And I have no known allergic reactions to
anything.
anyways.. I think my last period was
around thanksgiving of '03. I'm not
positive, but I may have also had one in
late january. It is now early may..
And I still have not seen my period. I
get symptoms like i'm about to start it,
but never do.
I've read on here that stress can prolong
your period, and I can definitely
understand that. If you know me, i'm
very meticulous about everything, so I get
stressed pretty easily.
i've gotten 6 pregnancy tests since
january to see if I am pregnant. 1 of
which had an error and showed nothing in
the control box. I honestly do not
think I am pregnant.. But i'm moreso
worried that I could have something wrong
with me..
I moved in with my dad a year and a half
ago, so I now live with my dad and 22 yr
old brother. I'm worried that if I am
pregnant, I won't know how to break it to
anyone. My mom would be understanding,
and my dad would.. But I just really
don't want to ruin anyone's life.
My dad suggested a few months ago I get on
birth control to regulate my periods..
I think its a good idea. But i'm just
really frightened of going to the doctor.
I'm scared that there is something wrong
or that I am pregnant. I don't want to
have an abortion if I am, but if I were to
adopt out i'd always feel like i'm
betraying my past somehow.
Man, when I think about it, it does seem
like i'm stressing too much.
i haven't taken up drugs, started/stopped
smoking, I haven't lost alot of weight..
But I have gained 20 pounds in the past 2
years from having a boyfriend. i'm
really stressed about starting college, I
am also the owner/admin of a website that
is local to my area (alot of stresses
there) and i'm always worried about what
people think of me. So there are all of
my stresses.
times like this I miss my period.
:d nice meeting you all and I hope you
can direct me in the right direction!

Umm... I would not have waited this
long to start your period!! You
shouldve definitly done something by now.
What did all the preg tests say, neg???
Well , anyhow. .Wether ur scared
or not , delaying only going to make it
worse, wether your preg or not. And if
u are preg, your delaying needed-time of
medical care for the baby........Seriously
u need to be mature about this and go to
the doctor already.Let us know what
happens...

I just don't remember if I did in late
january or not. If I did that would make
(feb, march, april) only 3 months which
seems normal for my irregularity. My
boyfriend said he remembered january..
But everything is just a blur for me.
I know I need to
go. I'm just really nervous. I've never
been to a gynocologist before either, so
i'm pretty freaked out. Especially since
I have no girl friends to talk this over
with. I'm surrounded by males.

I didnt see that u were irregular. .Well
go to a doc anyhow, even if ur not preg,
which if this is normal for u to miss like
that and all the tests are neg, then ur
prolly not pregnant im guessing.. But I
mean u should go to a doc, theres meds
that can straightin that out and get u
regular. Its not good to skip months like
that.

Do you know the names of the meds that can
make me regular? I dislike being so
irregular.

Some of the birth control pills that are
supposed to help with periods are, yasmin,
seasonal, and ortho evra but I wouldn't
take ortho evra it didn't work for me lol
but the other 2 are pills and they will
make your periods more regular. But def.
Go to the doctors and let us know what
happens!
~good luck~

when I was missing that it might have
happened.. But I just think I stress way
too much.
I just need to get on the pill to
regulate, you know? .. Thank you so much
for the names of the pills. I'm going to
check that stuff out.

Crazy health question happens though, my
last period was in august and I got
pregnant sometime in november. I'm also
irregular, and I took six or seven test
that came out negative too. That's when
I got my blood taken out, and that came
out positive. But jennifer's right you
would have some kind of belly by now.

Okay, I took my 7th test today. I woke up
about 2 hours ago.
It was negative. Again.
I'm thinking of calling planned parenthood
and asking them what could be going on.
I'm just confused. Anyways, thanks girls,
for all of your help.

Hun.....Go to a gyno. Trust me, there is
nothing to be nervous about. You don't
have anything they haven't seen before.
And if you don't go to the doctor, if you
are pregnant, you are being selfish by
putting your baby at risk. Just suck it
up and go to the gyno.

I'm just a little nervous because I live
with my dad and I don't want to tell him
something like, "i need to go to the gyno"
... And my mom lives far away, so I can't
ask her. I just don't know how to tell a
dad something like I need to go there.
Do you have to tell him? Do you have a
medical card and do you drive? Or could a
friend bring you or something?
Love,
chanda

The pill o the patch would probably be two
good options to make it regular.

Hey ladies.
just a follow-up to this thread.
I got my period today, june 16. So, I
guess i'm not pregnant.
I told my dad that it took a whole 6-7
months for me to get my period and he just
said I needed to get on birth control to
regulate it.. But I think he was relieved
to know I finally got it.
my boyfriend, whom if I had been pregnant
would be the father, is so supportive.
This is mean that I did this, but it was
funny at the moment. When he got to my
house this afternoon after getting off
work I told him I found out I was
pregnant.. The first thing he said was,
"i guess i'm selling my car and getting a
2nd job." ... Is that not sweet? He
didn't say, "what are you going to do" or
try to dissuade me from keeping it or
anything like that. He just said he'd
have to sell his car. And I know that
would be a huge step for him. He loves
his car and spends 75% of his check on
mods... I was really proud of him to act
so responsibly. We're 5 years apart in
age, but I can tell he really cares about
me. I'm really happy how he reacted
though. ... I ended up
telling him the truth like after 2
minutes. :p I can't lie to someone, its
really hard.. But after I told him the
truth he regained colour back in his face.
:p
anyways, i'm going to get on the shot or
something soon. My dad said something
about an implant under your skin? If
anyone knows anything about that, let me
know.
thanks girls!

Okay I will help you with what I know.
Some women never have "regular" periods.
Regular meaning, even flow or even once
every month. That does not necessarily
mean that there is anything wrong with
you. A lot of women get their period
once ever three or once every four months
and for them that is "regular"
but, you do need to go to the gyno to make
sure that there isn't an underlying
reason. And don't be scared to go. It
is kind of freaky at first, and it isn't
the most fun thing in the world, but it
really isn't that bad either.
I personally would not recommend the shot
for you. I mean if you want to go on
something to regulate your period then the
shot would be your last resort. With the
shot, you either do not get your period at
all or you could bleed every single day.
It may regulate your period, but the
chances are very, very slim.
The implant that you get under your skin
is called norplant. It looks like five
little toothpicks or something and they
put it in your upper arm. But, with
norplant you do not get a period. So,
this also would not help regulate
anything. Plus, there is almost always
massive weight gain with norplant. The
shot also causes a lot of women to gain
weight.
All birth control pills have the chance of
regulating your period. You will just
have to find one that is right for you.
It may take some trial and error, but you
will most likely find a pill that gives
you little or no side effects and makes
your period normal.
It seems scary, but it really isn't.
There most likely isn't anything "wrong"
with you. If you do not have pain or any
major problem. But, you really do need
to make sure.
But in all honestly as long as you not
getting your period every month does not
cause you any "problems" then there is no
reason why you would have to go onto
anything to regulate it. Because for
your body that is regular. But, if it
causes you stress worrying about pregnancy
or if you get accompanying pain, then you
should try birth control. But I
seriously would recommend trying b/c pills
first.
Let us know what happens.
