So I hear if your pregnant you shouldnt
sit in hot tubs. What about baths?
Cause I take really hot baths so should I
stop? And what about soda pop is that
bad to drink? And what do the doctors do
at your first appointment, why is it so
important

Hot baths/showers are a no no! That can
cause misscarriage, and birth defects!
Not cold baths but not hot ones!
Lukewarm.
Soda~not good. Maybe one every few days
is ok btu not all the time
first Dr. Appt~ they get your vitamins
and such. Very important

Chanda pretty much said it all. Also,
havin pop aint too bad u should just buy
caffiene-free pop.
I still take baths, just not hot ones.
When pregnant you have to be very careful
not to overheat at all.
And the docs appt.. Vitamins and just
checking up to make sure the baby is
developing well. Very important~

You shouldn't eat aspartame (nutrasweet)
either, so no diet, caffeine-free, drink
regular caffeine free soda.

If you are one of them people that need
their caffine, make sure you drink alot of
extra water, cuz caffine dehydrates you,
and your body needs water to get the
nutrients to the baby. For hot baths, I
always used to take really hot baths, I
still take hot baths just not as hot, and
only to the point to where I can stand it,
if you start feeling too hot, or that your
gonna pass out or something, get out and
cool down or put some cold water in there.
As for the first doctor appt, its not
just the first one that is important,
every monthly check up is very important,
to make sure the baby is ok and that you
are ok, and to make sure you arent having
complications and if you are that you get
treated. Its not just for your babys
health, its for yours too. At the first
appt you will more than likely get a pap
smear, they will confirm that your
pregnant, you'll get blood work done, they
will ask you your medical history, history
of mental illness, and other problems in
yours and the fathers family.

I still take baths but not as hot, and I
do drink caffeine drinks but not very much
maybe 1 or 2 cups a week and the 1st
appointment, sometimes they schedule an
ultrasound to see how far u are into your
pregnancy, and see if the baby looks
healthy, if it has a heartbeat, etc and
you also fill out all the papers, get your
pap smear if u haven't had one in the past
year, they do blood work and get your
medical history (you and the baby's
father) thats all I remember them doing
for me but I might be forgetting
something, its a very important visit
though and its really important to keep
your appointments and not to miss them!
Good luck!

I take showers. I wonder if showers are
as bad for you as baths? I would guess
so because i'm always red as a lobster
when I get out of the shower because the
water is so hot! And sometimes my
breathing is labored, although i'm not
sure if it is because of the heat or the
humidity.

I took hot baths but warning do not take a
bath if u think ur water has broken this
is for later in ur pregnancy and I drank a
lot of pop when I was pregnant I did try
to cut down tho but I figured that was the
one thing I could have I quit smoking and
drinking so pop isnt nearly as bad as that
but try not to drink coke and pepsi try
orange sprite or somethin like that

Just in case you do want to drink diet
soda:
now with the whole atkins diet getting so
popular a lot of companies are starting to
sweeten their products with splenda. It
is much better for you as it is made from
real sugar. I know that diet rite (it is
a cola and naturally caffeine free) is
sweetened with splenda. There is also
raspberry diet rite. They are both
actually really good.

really I never knew that! Being a
.H.U.G.E. Diet soda fan myself I have
always worried about getting pregnant
again because I dread the fact that I wont
be able to drink diet drinks constantly!
Thanks for the info though

I have aspartame sometimes.. .Like 2-3
times a week. My doc said its ok as long
as its not all the time. But I have heard
splenda and sucralose are better for u
then aspartame. I wont drink regular pop,
only diet. And I drink flavored water and
that has splenda in it.

I haven't had a drop of caffeine since I
got pregnant. I wasn't a big soda person
before so I guess it was a lot easier, I
am avid on water though, I could drink the
entire ocean if I had my brita pitcher to
clean all the junk out of it!

from the past few days(opps) and I buy
quite a few gatorades durin the week at
school..But I do drink water so dont
worry. Ryan yells at me all the time
cause I take really hot showers but I just
blow em off like its nothin...It feels
good but he gets in my face everyday about
it saying things like the baby is gonna
