Q: 15 Weeks Pregnant And Sharp Pains

Hi there, I am 31 and this is my first pregnancy I am 15 weeks along, in the first month or 2 I felt sharp pains in my lower abdomen and sides and was told it is because my uterus is growing, the pains went away shortly after. In the last week I have been getting the sharp pains again up both sides of my lower belly and they shoot up to about my hips, it seems to happen when I stand to quickly, cough or sneeze and I really noticed it at work the other day( I have a physically demanding job with quite abit of heavy lifting) my next Dr. Appt is in a week should I wait and tell her when I see her or does this sound serious? Please excuse my ignorance any replies would be very helpful! Thankyou!

Extremely eHealthy
Pains are common in a pregnancy, but it is not good for you to do any heavy lifting at all! I hope you consult you doctor on that. But it is not good for you. Call your doctor and ask before your appointment.

I've experienced pain when coughing or sneezing as well. Mostly it's still from ligaments and muscles being stretched because the pregnancy is growing. I was much more aware of it in the first pregnancy than in subsequent ones. I am pregnant with #4 now Smile

Thanks for the info I feel better knowing that the pains are fairly common, I have spoken to my Dr. Today and she said to try to limit my lifting to 10-15lbs at a time. Once again thanks alot I appreciate the feedback!

Pains
I had them too...I am 17 weeks and 3 days...My doc told me that it is my muscles stretching...Especially when you move around, they stretch more....Ask your doc about it....

I Feel Your Pain
I am 14 weeks now, and I was just telling my supervisor that I was having sharp pains today. I have read the previous post, and I see now that it is very common. What happens if it gets worse then just the sharp pains that I am feeling now? Question

hi kianna. I am 15 weeks pregnant like you are. I am also a working pregnant woman. I am not a doctor, but I would say do not lift anything heavy. I understand you need your job, but your health as well as your unborn child's health is more important. Does you boss know that you are pregnant? If not, I would inform the boss. Also, see if you could change job duties, you do not want to lose your child. Congratulations. When is your due date? My due date is august 10, 2007

When I responded to Kianna. I was not aware of how old her message was. This is because it was posted with recent inquiries. I look at posting dates. It is not my error that her message was posted from three years ago. The date I saw that day was not in 2003. It was for 2007. I guess someone went back in the time capsule. LOL. Have a blessed day.
