I am 6 weeks pregnant and have just
discovered a broken thermometer in the
console of my car. I have read
literature that explains that a mercury
spill that is not immediately cleaned up
has the potential to vaporize and could
cause harm to a fetus. I am unsure as to
how long this thermometer has been in my
car, but there are no droplets of mercury
that can be seen. To say the very least,
this discovery has made me quite uneasy.
Has anyone ever made such a discovery?
What treatment, if any, was administered?

I would recommend contacting your local
poison control center for information. I
have no idea what to do in a case like
that.

Im not totally sure on this but I belive
that they quit making thermometers with
mercury. Its still better to be safe than
sorry so like dallas said, get a
professional to take care of it, hopefully
you already have. I wouldnt recommend
driving around with it still there,
especially pregnant.
