Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis & Giving Birth

I had both hips pinned at age 11 and I am curently 37 weeks pregnant. Seeing my consultant on wed to review birth options, any feedback from anyone who has slipped capital femoral epiphysis and has given birth gratefully received.

I'd prefer to do things naturally!

I would assume that because of the hip deformity as a result of the slipped epiphysys that placing your legs/hips in the proper position for birth might be more difficult. Hopefully things were easy enough for you with delivery. I know that with my own hips there are just certain movements, certain ranges of motion, that I cannot do..Have you had trouble with your hips since the age of 11 when you've had them pinned?
Take care,

I too have had one of my hips pinned. I am presently 31 weeks pregnant and have the same concern. I would like to do things naturally but also do not want to jeopardize the health of my new baby. Did you end up having a c-section due to the limitation of your hip or did you give birth vaginally?

hi my name is Lisa and unfortunatley i suffered the same mishap, i didnt even no if i could nget pregnant because of my injury, but now i know it is possible from reading your post. i recently found out that i didn't have to do surgery or have a hip replcacement surgery for that matter. my friend who also had a slipped epiphysis went to a chriopractor instead of a regular doctor and he was, after a few sessions, able to massage her hip back into place. she also did some physical therapy (few sessions that is) to help regain her flexibility now she is pain free, dosent have to worry about any future problems and flexible maybe more than ever. now thats something your doc wouldnt tell you, please as if he will send you to a chriopractor and end up losing thousands of dollars
