Gallbladder Removal
Posted: 06-06-04 23:24pm

I am 24 and had my gallbladder removed 2 years ago. Since then I have horrible abdominal cramps and diarrhea that really burns everytime I eat. Has anyone else experienced this? I am a nurse and new this might happen for awhile but 2 years!!!! I have a hard time going out to eat or even eating at work. I had a colonoscopy recently which was normal and the gi said irritable bowel syndrome. Does anyone else have anything like this? I also developed bladder problems right around the same time my gallbladder went bad. The best way to describe it is it's like a urinary tract infection only no bacteria shows up in my urine or on a culture. I thought it was odd that both problems developed at the same time. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks for any info.

I have heard of people having this problem after gallbladder surgery. Not many do, but some unlucky ones do. I am supposed to have surgery and that is the one thing that scares me about it. There is a forum at curezone.Com for gallbladder surgery. Many people there have the same problems and can probably give you some suggestions on how to fix it. Good luck!

Hi, I had my gall bladder removed thanksgiving of last year, and I too sometimes have "the runs" right after a meal, and mine has been almost a year. I had bladder problems mostly what seemed like yeast infections, but after I had it removed it has not bothered me since. Hang in there on the stomach thing, I know it's frustrating and sometimes embarrassing but at least you are not sicker with a ruptured gall bladder. Try to look on the bright side of every cloud.

Diarrhea Relief
Posted: 10-12-04 09:55am

After having my gallbladder removed about 2 years ago, I also had terrible diarrhea. My gastroenterologist put me on a drug called colestid, which is actually used to lower cholesterol. From the first day I took it, the diarrhea was gone. I take it every day now and am doing fine. If I miss a day, the diarrhea comes right back, so I call it my "miracle drug".

sometimes I think surgeons are too quick to remove a gallbladder, without looking into other causes of the symtoms, such as irritable bowel.

I had mine removed over twenty years ago and I still have problems, I think a lot of my problem is just nerves, as I also have a lot of other medical problems. Plus I get so tired of dr's. Not knowing what the problem really is so they just call it a blank blank syndrome.
Sincerely
