I was looking at nature's plus selection since
all their vitamins are food based, and are
suppose to be more bioavailable to your
body or whatever. However I noticed that
almost all I them have herbs of
some type in them.
I'm really anti-herb, cause I believe they
are drugs more or less, I know they are
natural, but regardless think they will
have a affect on one's chemistry. I know
some of ya'll don't feel this way and
thats a your opinion and I respect that.
But I was wondering if any one knows of a
good
multi-vitamin that doesn't have any herbs
and is food derived.

Multi-vitamins Posted: 06-09-04 23:47pm
One good vitamin is the pre-natal
vitamins, one that I use is one-source
wal-mart carries them, cheap but they work
as a matter of fact I use the one-source
50+ because I am over 50 y/o but it is
also a good idea to get some blood work
done to check and make sure you are not
lacking in a certain vitamin as too much
is the same thing as not enough.
Sincerely,
sandy

I read recently that the best multi that
you can buy (in england at least) is
boots' own brand multi-vitamin.
Don't know where you are based but this
might be something to look into.

this is the best answer given in this
thread! There is absolutly no evidence
that more expensive is better! Infact
there are some studies in consumers report
magazine with regard to herbal supplements
showing that the genaric pills from
walgreens are one of the only suppliers
that provide the actual amount of the
supplement listed on the lable.
General nutrition centers ecinacea(sp)
supplements only contained 25% of the
total amount listed and 0% of the one they
claimed was the most helpful and so
claimed their pills were better.
Don't let these ponzi schemes suck you in.
They are garbage and the business
practices of the vitamin makers are in the
business only to make money by selling
hype!

So Glad I Can Help Posted: 06-19-07 18:21pm
So Glad I Can Help...
I have found the Holy Grail of
Multivitamin. "Whole Vitamin" to be exact.
But first let me set the record straight
by first saying "STAY AWAY FROM SYNTHETIC
VITAMINS" or at the very least, educate
yourself on them well enough to know the
risks involved with taking them.
Forget what you've heard, about how great
these vitamins make you feel and how good
they are for your bodies.
You owe it yourself and to your families
to learn the truth...
Scientists created synthetic vitamins that
are cheap to make and are said to be
identical in their atomic structure when
compared to WHOLE VITAMINS (Vitamins
directly from vegetables).
However, due to their atomic structure,
synthetic vitamins only give you around
50% of biological activity as compared to
whole vitamins.
Oh No, It doesn't stop there...
In fact, research studies show that
synthetic vitamins can be dangerous to
your health! Synthetic stripped down
processed vitamins are currently being
sold in almost every Brand Name supplement
today. If you truly understood the
importance of giving your body "whole"
vitamins, along with the other critical
nutrients, you would never swallow another
synthetic vitamin again.
Taking the "synthetic" form of vitamin C,
for example, can actually thicken the
arterial walls of the heart by as much as
2.5 times! Ascorbic Acid (synthetic
vitamin C) is the word that you need to
watch out for!
Taking the "synthetic" form of Vitamin E
is proven to actually suck vitamins and
minerals right out of the bones! Once
again, most vitamin supplements today are
using all the synthetic vitamins because
they are so cheap to manufacture.
Whole Vitamins are critical for
maintaining good health!
The human cell recognizes and can use for
fuel, repair and function, ONLY natural,
whole food complexes.
Whole food vitamins do not rob precious
nutrients from the body, but supply the
individual cells with the nutrients they
need to flourish. For greatest gains in
terms of health, take only whole food
vitamins.
Eating healthy, getting the proper
nutrients, annual medical checkups, and
exercise are all critical in keeping the
body strong and healthy.
NOW, For Anyone Interested In Finding Out
More About What I Feel Is The BEST Whole
Vitamin On The Market Today (The Same Ones
That I Take Everyday) or Any of you with
questions or concerns, Please send me a
message.

Multivitamins Are Unnatural! Posted: 06-20-07 21:17pm
If you're going for a placebo effect, take
a house-brand multivitamin and pay
attention to the RDA percentages on the
label. It doesn't really matter what the
numbers say on that cheap hard-tablet
multivitamin anyway, because it will
likely pass through you like a penny
(hospital workers call them 'bedpan
bullets').
Multivitamin tablets are not natural. They
are conglomerations of individual
nutrients, mostly synthetic (as yv2u and
others have stated), combined together in
theoretical ratios and glued together.
Whether by evolution or creation, we were
designed to get all required nutrition
from our food supply. So we're really good
at it. However, there is much evidence
that our farm soils are depleted of
minerals and trace elements by years of
maximum-yield farming. And we all know
about insecticides, herbicides, etc.
routinely sprayed on our fruits and
vegetables. I say, throw out your
multivitamins and start buying organic
produce and sea vegetables (seaweed).
Seaweed does not suffer from depleted
soils and contains practically the entire
spectrum of known essential nutrients. If
you can't stand the smell or taste of
seaweed like me, you can buy it in
capsules, but make sure it's not an
extract or something someone cooked up in
a lab. Sea Vegg is a decent product of
this type, but I recently switched to a
product called Living Sea, made by iGem
Health. It seems to be a lot fresher;
better color in the capsules, so more
chlorophyll and other good stuff.
Oh, and watch out for these exotic juice
drinks like Noni and Xango and Limu, etc.,
etc. -- most have tons of sugar, and if
they're not refrigerated, most of those
nutrients they've promised you have
already broken down. Except the sugar.
You'll still get plenty of that.
"The most difficult thing in the world is
to abandon one's beliefs in the face of
irrefutable evidence against them."

The best that I have found is the Isotonix
Multitech. The vitamins are in a powder
form that when you mix a certain amount of
powder with water it forms an Isotonic
state. You body will absorb 85 to 92 % of
the vitamins within 5-15 minutes. The
problem with conventional pills are that
it takes between 45 minutes to 4 hours
for you body to digest depending healthy
you are. The reason for this is all the
fillers, resins and binders that are added
to them. Pretty scary!
Here is a link to find more about it.

The best one I have found is "Alive". It
a whole food vitamin with no artifical
ingredients and you can get it online (the
best place I think is vitacost) or most
health food stores. I've been buying it
for a couple years.
