Severe Acne

I've had acne as long as I can remember
i'm 19 now and my face is pretty well
cleared up, however, my neck, chest, and
back have very severe acne and nothing
seems to effect it in any way.
I am pretty clean but my skin gets oily
very quickly. Sometimes within 30 minutes
of cleaning.
I am going to purchase a book on the
perricone program since nothing else seems
to work.
Any suggestions, and most importantly has
anyone tried the perricone program? Did
it work?
Thanks

I have been on accutane for 10 weeks now.
It's wonderful. Lots of side effects,
but it's totally worth it. My face
wasn't that bad at all, just greasy, but
my back was the issue. It's almost
cleared up. By the way, i'm almost 28,
so it won't "just go away"

Thanks for the reply. I have read about
accutane only being a temporary fix and
that the acne comes back. I also hear
that the side effects don't dissappear as
quickly and could end up being worse than
acne.
2 1/2 months seems like quick results
though. I dunno, I may try it eventually.
I would like to try the diet thing first
see what kind of results I can get from
it. I would like to hear more about maybe
things you have tried in the past that
havn't worked. Things that maybe worked
for a while.
I would like to learn from others and try
what seems to be the most successful.
Thanks again for the reply.

Hi,
here's some things i've tried... Retina
- worked temporarily, antibiotics - worked
while I was on them and gave me yeast
infections, proactiv - works well, but you
have to use all these things forever is
the bad thing. Mine is brought on mostly
by my periods and my dad has severe acne.
The back thing was always so embarrassing
to me cause it's not as common. I get
the painful cystic acne there. It's
about half gone now. If you or your
immediate family doesn't have issues with
depression, I highly recomment accutane.
I know three others that have been on it
with permanent results. One other I know
had to go through an additional course.
The worst thing for me is your lips peel
real bad while you're on it. But as many
years as i've lived with zits on my face,
it's worth it to have badly chapped lips
for 5 months. I'll be done december
2nd. I'll let you know how it goes.
Keep in touch...

I was about 20 years old when I started to
use accutane and I truely recommend it.
I suffered with acne since the age of 14
and was just tired of putting foundation
on for what seemed like eternity to cover
everything up. I went on accutane for
about 6-7 months, went to the doctor every
month for blood work and had very little
side affects. I remember that the tops
of my hands were very dry and my scalp was
a bit tender at times. I've heard that
accutane can increase depression for
articles, but I was not part of that
percentage. I'm 26 now and still get a
few pimples here and there, but my skin
was not as active as it once was. I hope
this helps and good luck!!

It seems to me from what you both are
saying that, accutane is a realitivly
quick fix. Perhaps I should use accutane
to jump start the whole process and use
the diet program during and after the
accutane treatment to maintain the
hopefully tremendously cleared skin.
Would it be possible to get some before
and after pictures with a time frame
listed? I'm curious to actually see the
difference. Reading it is one thing. I
know I have very serious acne and I keep
trying to see how it is possible to get
from where I am to where you say you are
in 10 weeks to 7 months. It is very hard
for me to imagine it. If you don't have
any or don't want to send me any I fully
understand.
Thanks for the replies keep them coming!

I don't have any good before pics that
will show how bad my back was. I can
take a picture of it now and email it and
send another in december. You may want
to start before then. I can take a
picture of how clear my face is now. You
may be able to see some scars on my face
to see how bad it was. My scars seems to
have evened out a little too though. I
guess cause your skin peels some during
the process. I go to the Dr. Once a
month also and they take bloodwork every
four weeks. I was glad to see someone
who took it a few years ago to see how it
works long term for them. The doctor
says I shouldn't break out at all. As
long as I don't get the cystic acne, i'm
okay w/ a few pimples every once in a
while... Let me know if you want my
picture now, and i'll send it tonight.

I do have a friend that used accutane and
she suffered some terrible side effects
that were permanent. I think she has a
web site to see about it and there are a
lot of people listed on there with the
same after effects.
I can ask for more info if you would like
it
best of luck to you all

Accutane

I highly recommend using accutane as a
last resort. I tried everything prior to
accutance and nothing seemed to keep my
acne unactive. As I described in an
earlier emial, I was on accutane 6 years
ago and my skin still looks great. I
only get several small pimples a month and
they heal faster for some reason. So, if
you have tried every acne medication and
still have active skin, and don't have
depressive tendencies, then accutane might
be your best bet! To me, it really is a
quick fix, but it also changes your skin's
temperment too.

Hey there,
i would also reccomend using accutane as a
last resort. When u come off it....The
acne will rebound and probably be even
worse than when u first start taking the
med. I found ortho tri cyclen birth
control pills worked for me when I started
taking them. Also, try tea tree oil....I
swear, it works like a charm...Put several
(10-15) dops into about 15ml of water, and
use a cotton swab and dip it into the tea
tree oil water mixture and swipe over the
zits 2-3 times a day....Or any areas that
are affected. U should see noticiable
improvements in a short period of time.
The tea tree oil and the pill seemed to
work for me. I know what its
like...I was willing to try anything, and
I did, and I found something that worked.
Also, dont wear wool sweaters or anything
that may irritate your skin..Stick with
plain cotton to let your skin breath and
not be irritated.
Good luck with everything! Let us know
what u try and if u find something that
works.

Well I got the forums working today.
Also in the report section I have a recent
picture of my chest. My back is pretty
much just as bad. This just shows you all
how severe it really is.
I have never in my life seen anyone else
who has it as bad as I do. So any of you
who have given me times as to how fast
different things have worked. I would
like to know how close you were to where I
am when you started.
That information would better help me
kinda judge somewhat how long it will take
on different systems or programs.
Thank you all for your input. Keep it
coming.

If you have noticed my website hasn't gone
anywhere. I decided when I last talked to
you that I was going to do the accutane
treatment. I talked to my parents about
it and very soon I will beginning the
treatment. Once my father gets the big
job and he gets paid for it i'll be
starting it. Right now since I can't do
much until then I am just using the
proactive stuff which has never really
done a whole lot more than keep it down to
a tolerable level. Congratulations on
being completely clear. How long were you
on it again?

I took it for about 22 weeks. You are
supposed to take it 20, but he told me to
finish up any I had left over. Good luck
and let me know how it goes for you. By
the way, my cholesterol went up while I
was on it, but not terribly bad. It went
to about 220 at the highest. That's one
of the side effects. I'll get my last
bloodwork done in the morning and have a
follow up visit, and that should be it!

Hi,
after 10 years suffering from severe acne
and after using all kinds of available
creams, medicines and treatments, I took
roaccutanne and my problem was finally
solved. Roaccutanne is the best , thank
g'd I got rid of acne!
Anything else is caca, if it works is
temporary, after you stop the treatment
everything comes back again.
Ask your doctor for roaccutanne - it's
simply awesome!
It worth the effort of the side effects,
believe me....
