Hi kim, i'm 17 and 5 1/2 weeks, how about you? Anyway I am 17 and my mom make $60,000 a year so I thought that I wouldn't qualify for medicaid but I found a louisiana law that says that it is based on my income ($0) ,instead of my mom's b/c I am a teen. So i'll be applying after I get some money to get an official test from a doctor (hopefully wed.) b/c you have to send proof that you are a preggie. N e way, um in louisiana the part of medicaid for pregnant women is lamoms. It covers all pre natal and deliver costs ,including labs, rx's, and whatever else. It also covers the mother up to 60 days after delivery for care ,and covers baby until age 1. Then when baby turns 1 you can apply for more free insurance here it is called lachip for kids 1-5. So one thing that I won't have to worry about is the baby's healthcare ,and by the time he/she is 5 I should be finished school (i'm a nursing student). Go to
http://www.Cms.Hhs.Gov/states/default.Asp ,and go to the bottom of the page and choose your state. Many states have their app online for you to print out. So I think all you'll have to do is fill out the app get a doc's verification that you are pregnant on paper , income verification (i.E. Check stubs. Down here they'll want your last months stubs and last years tax return) ,and send it in. They can take up to 45 days to get back to you but they try to do it quickly. In my state they'll even cover you for up to 3 months before you applied if you were pregnant. Another thing I know that lots of people are ashamed to get gov. Assistance but don't be. I look at it like this I am having a baby ,and if I need help to take care of he/her then i'll take what I can get, as long as I am really trying to do something with my life. As for wic, I don't know to much about this yet, but you should be able to find out about this through the lik I gave you too. All I really know about wic is that you get weekly vouchers to get non perishable foods for you and your baby. They only give you enough for a week to my knowlege. And you may also have other help like down here they have child care vouchers. So if you are in school ,or working they will let you pich out some type of child care (class a lisence, in home care (your home), or in home care (someon else's home with less than 6 kids) ,and after the paperwork is complete they'll be paying for your childcare. Good luck!!!!!!!!..........

| my boyfriend of one year freaked out when we found out that I was pregnant. He wanted me to have an abortion and I have already had two. I can't go through that again. I was scared that I would never be able to get pregnant again and I think that it is a miracle that I did...Even though it wasn't planned. Needless to say...I will probably be a single mother. I don't make that much money right now and i'm going to need financial help. Anyone have any advice to give me? I heard about medicaid and wic. How do you apply for that? Anyone have any experience with either of these? I am willing to do whatever it takes to bring my beautiful child into this world. :d |
