I was wondering if any one has mood swings like me and what do you do for it I changed from ritalin to concerta 36mg er tablets to see if it helped with the ups and downs and it did as far as I dont have them during the day but after about ten to twelve hours after taking the meds I come down off it and I can get real grumpy sometimes and I was wondering what could help with this I have taken one of my leftover ritalin pills and it seems to help so any help would be great

There is too little information to give you an opinion as to what might be going wrong. The first step is to have a diagnosis, and exclude the possibility of bipolar disorder or any other problem.

It may be worth you while to study the connection between hypoglycemia with mental illness and this will also you give you some simple non-drug treatments to try out. The hypoglycemic diet may even out mood swings and is explained in

"what is hypoglycemia?" at our web site

and some of the follow up articles.

Please, don 't ask me dumb - dumb questions like that in the future ! You want to be a fool then do it & don 't get any of the caring people world involved in your craziness anymore in the in the future ! And stay off the road don 't want you to poison yourself by self - medicating and get in the car and kill a nice family of 5 ! Things like that were experiments for some of us when we were baby teenagers but you are peter pan now aren 't you ?

How many times do you need to be asked not to insult people? This person is not self-medicating! When you switch pills you have to go through your doctor as they are rx only. Well, you don't have to, but I am sure that this person did. Please stop being mean.

Bobbyk,

i don't think that taking the odd leftover tablet is likely (in general although there are exceptrions) to hurt but nor is it actually likely to solve your problem.

Mood swings - food, lack of exercise (or inappropriate exercise), doing or watching or reading things that depress you (so do, watch read things that don't upset you).

Aside from the above some solutions : ces machine dynamind.Com sound & light machine dynamind.Com, cbt, natural supplements like 5htp, valerian, sam-e, dhea, gingko, st johns wort.
