Miscarriage???
Posted: 06-15-04 11:02am

Hi there,
as some of you know unfortuntly I misscarried at nearly six weeks.Im gutted. The questions I have though are there going to be problems in me conceiving again? Ive been reading so many things about low progesterone being a cause of miscarriges and having a weak cervix.I really dont want to go through the same pain again that I have already been through.Me and my partner really wan to try again. But when is it safe to? My periods are very irregular to.Could this be a reason to cause misscarrige? Because my hormones are not strong enough or something? When I had the blood test at the docs to confirm I was pregnant it came back weakly positive? So does that mean I have a hormone problem? I have so many questions im so worried about going through this again.Any answers would help.

Hi there,

the miscarriage won't have any effect on your chances of conceiving again. My husband and I had a miscarriage, and fell pregnant again 3 months after, to go on to have a beautiful baby boy who weighed in at 9 pound 7. (ouch!!!) it is safe to try again any time you are both ready. The only thing being that your chances of miscarriage are slightly higher one month after a miscarriage, of miscarrying again. If you were to wait one month and then try to conceive again, your chances of miscarriage will return to the same odds as everyone else. The irregularity of your period will not cause you to miscarry. Generally miscarriages happen because the fetus just didn't start to develop properly. If you were to have another miscarriage, you would then start to work with your gynocologist to figure out why it is happening.

Hello I have just seen your letter on the "health forum" and hope that you have now been blessed with a child you have longed for? I lost two babies quite late in pregnancy and was told that I had a weak cervix, the doctors inserted a stitch into my cervix a 13 weeks and went on to have my little girl with no added complications. However I do not totally agree with the doctors theory of an incompetant cervix and have my own idea what caused my miscarriges.
I am no doctor but if you are still trying if nessassary change your doctor if you are not happy with the info he gives you. Good luck
