Tazorac And Differin Gels Posted: 06-20-04 00:09am
I recently went to the dermotologist for
mild persistent ance. I was prescribed
tazorac gel for the nights and duac gel
for the morning and also 4 pills of 250mg
of tetracyclinea day, orally. I was
taking differin gel, thanks to a friend
that's a doctor, but it was never
recomended. Would substituting the
tazorac gel for the differin gel make a
difference? Does anyone know anything
about these medications? \
thanks.

I just began using differin gel today, so
I cant give you much feedback on the
product. However, I washed my face
earlier today, and after only 3 or 4
hours, I already notice a smoothness in my
skin. The tiny blackheads on my chin have
not changed much, but this gel seems to do
wonders for big cystic bumps on the
forehead. The bumps on my forehead have
already almost completely gone down! I
love this gel. I cant give you any
longterm feedback or tell you whether to
switch from your other treatment, but I
can tell you that this is working well for
me. I have used salcitic acid, benzoyl,
sulfur, cortisoids, clidigel, and probably
every topical gel you can think of. This
is working!
Good luck. I'll check in a few weeks from
now to give you an update. Hope this
helps

I stopped using differein gel about 3
months after I started. It helped me
like it helped you, just about right away
for about 10 days, to about 2 weeks, then
I started getting pretty bad pimples, but
not big ones. I read about it and I
kinda understood it as your face isgetting
rid of all that bacteria through the skin,
and when it's done, it should improve, as
mine dad in about 2 and a half months.
They say in 6 months your face will be
very clear. I am taking something else
now, thats similar to it. Also, the
pills are helping, and i've taken them for
about 3 weeks now.

Ahh. Thanks for the warning. I guess I
should be expecting a breakout in a few
weeks then. I am starting on birth
control in the next week, so hopefully, my
breakout will be more under control. I
don't know if you are a male or female,
but birth control is supposed to regulate
your hormones and improve acne. We'll
see!
Good luck with your treatment

I'm a female and i've considered going on
birth control for a few reasons, that
being one of them, and another one being I
get pretty horrible craps. But I thought
it'd be better not to mess with my
hormones, yet.

Yeah, I am hesitant about messing with my
hormones too. However, I also know that
bad acne and having a bad menstrual cycle
(severe cramps, lots of bleeding) run in
my family. My mother is 50, and she is
still dealing with acne. I feel like this
is something i'd like to take care of
(despite the side effects), so I don't
have to deal with scaring later...
But kudos to you for looking for
alternatives though. I hope it works out
for you :d

Tazorac Posted: 05-04-05 18:22pm
I just started on tazorac and its been
less than a week and I am quite unhappy.
I normally have pretty oily skin, but it
is brittle and dry and it hurts to put on
things like blush because the bristles on
the brush make my skin hurt so bad. When
I apply moisterizer, my skin turns bright
red for a few seconds, and my face is
breaking out in these weird zits that are
pretty much just bumps right now. I know
the treatment makes your acne worse for a
couple weeks, but I didn't know it would
completely change my skin...I don't think
I like dry, sensitive skin. What should
I do??? Should I wait it out, has anyone
used tazorac, and can tell me if this goes
away?
Thanks!

I have oily skin normally and I used
tarorac and it made me feel about 17
times!! No kidding!! I'd use it every 3
days only because once I was done peeling,
i'd use it again, and start peeing again!!
I finally quit using it about 2 months
later when even once a week it still make
me peel. Guess it isnt for everyone...
I'm going to my derm. Tomorrow to see
what he says.

Tazorac should be used to clear areas
after acne has been removed. In other
words...Dont apply it on acne..Its like a
stain remover...For the face...
Dont know how else to explain it...Its not
for pimples though.

Is it for the scars? Something like that?
That would explain the peeling...

Well if you can't use it on acne.. How
are you supposed to get rid of your acne
in order to use it? I was on it for
awhile while I used a small sample..
However my insurance wouldn't cover it so
I was never on it for long. You apply it
all over your face.. Acne or not. Like
most prescription acne ointments, it dries
out the skin and can irritate it. If it
irritates your skin pretty bad, then only
use it maybe every other day and make sure
you use a strong moisturizer with it. My
dermatologist said it's the liquid form of
accutane.. Only without the bad side
effects of accutane. I didn't use it
long enough to figure out if that was true
or not.. Since I was on accutane years
ago.

Tazorac Issue Posted: 07-31-05 02:08am
Tazorac makes ur face white too! I used
it and got all white in my face like when
using retina. It also dries skin.
Peeling ? Hell yeah !
I got oxylight - cleared up my face in a
week. It does make ur skin just lil dry
but nothing 2 bad but u can use good
moisturizer to help u with that. I did.
Its nothing like peeling and pain with
tazorac. Oxylight really did help me
with acne. It is a high frequency machine
for 99 bucks and u can get it anywhere
online. Maybe it could help someone else
like it did me... I dont know I just
wanted to tell u guys. :)

This is a very popular combo. Alot of ppl
have been prescribed this for mild to
moderate acne. It works very good. On
this site www.Acne.Org there is
a huge message board there all on acne.
And you can ask about this combo. But as
far as I am concerned it works for most
ppl, just give it time.
