Abdominal Pain Since Last Three Years Posted: 06-23-04 11:24am
I am 28 year old lady, a software engineer
by profession. I donot smoke or drink
alcohol. I have been going through
abdominal pain and frequent urination
since last three years. I started with
this while handling pressure time with
client and skipping lunch or dinner which
resulted in constipation, gas and
abdominal pain. I have realized that
getting anxiety is in my nature. Now I
am out of those pressure time with
clients. I am sitting home and
relaxing for last 7 months. My
constipation problem is over. But
abdominal pain has become part of my life
and I cannot bear this pain. I keep on
experiencing gas in my stomuch. At
times it gets released but there is no
time when I get released of this pain.
At times I get to hear different voices
from stomuch as if water has blocked in my
vessels. I am happily married for 7
months now. I face pain while having
sex also. I do average excersice and
started with swimming too but of no help.
I am afraid if this would create
problem during pregnancy in next few
years. I have been told to drink water
as much as I can, but doing that results
in more pain and more frequent urination.
Now I am facing problem with my skin and
memory too. Please help.

Try checking out www.Lowcarbfriends.Com
& also google or yahoo search for
irritable bowel syndrome, also you might
try taking a supplement of 5htp
(tryptophan) for the stress, &/or dhea
&/or sam-e. You can google these for
further information. Or pm me (no I don't
sell them but I could give more info if
you need it).

Many people with anxiety have similar
related health issues. You may want to
try and treat the anxiety with cognitive
behavioral therapy (cbt). If you apply
your self to using the tools it works
remarkably well and surprisingly fast too.
Good luck.

Cbt might be the answer if the base cause
is stress but she needs to find out if
it's in fact a physical thing,
ibs(irritable bowel syndrome) & many
other similar problems can cause all of
the symptoms descibed - including anxiety
(because the distress of being in pain etc
causes anxiety) & cbt won't help the
anxiety if the cause is pain which has to
be corrected - possibly through diet
changes.

excellent points as usual purple.
Definitely rule out any physical causes
first! I do want to add that I was
diagnosed and treated for ibs for a long
time but as soon as I got a handle on my
anxiety and depression it disappeared and
this was even prior to cbt when I was just
on anti-depressants.

Qt3,
thank you for that info & to continue
with the mutual admiration society - you
too as usual make a good & for me most

help explain some of my daughters
situation re stress<<>>
ibs<<>>weight issues.
So thank you & I will have to get her
to look into this more closely.

Despite eating pretty strictly according
to ibs, excersing way more than the
average "bunny"(due to her university
being on the side of a large hill &
her lectures etc being at top & bottom
etc) she has gained about 54lbs in 5
months -
which as a 16 year old girl is really
stressing her out - she was having to
travel 4-5 hours a day from here to uni
but she's staying with friends &
moving into a townhouse to share, which is
about 8kms from uni 2 buses or a walk
& a bus or even a pushbike ride (on
days when she would be home early - as
she's a theatre major & involved in
shows etc she's often there till 10-11pm)-
we'er hoping this will help reduce her
stress.
I actually mentioned cbt & sam obitz'
book to her & she said she'd heard
about it & heard good things &
that if I got it, she's at least read it -
mind you she's a teenager so i'll believe
that when it happens.
so I hope things will soon start
improving.

Do You Drink Milk? Posted: 07-30-04 06:33am
I have noticed that a lot of folks with
stress and anxiety seem to also be lactose
intolerant (myself included). If you do
drink milk, try easing off of it for a few
days, as well as sour cream. Some people
can tolerate yogurt, ice cream and cheese,
others, not so much. But there is
certainly a known link between anxiety and
digestion.
Sending prayers, love, and positive energy
your way!

I had the same problem as you. I'd have
gas all the time, esp. When I was feeling
extra stressed or nervous---which I
usually was 24/7 becaus eof my hectic
schedule and lack of patience. I didn't
really have abdominal pain but the gas was
unbearable and very embarrassing. I also
exercise regularly and try to eat right.
A week ago I started takign birth contorl
pills (yasmin) and I haven't had gas since
then...My stomach is not bloated---it is
flat---i never even knew I had a stomach
this flat. I also try to think positive
thoguhts whenever I feel like i'm about to
go over the edge. I thinkt hat also helps
a great deal. Also, what I found helped
with my gas, abdominal pain, and migraines
in the past was smoking a little bit of
marijuana--- I know soem of you are
against it, but it has worked for em so I
thoguht i'd post it.
