I have a question for you ladies...
My girlfriend and I are becoming sexually
active and she is about to go on the pill.
In the past her and her ex had sex
without the condom when she was on the
pill. I am using a condom right now
until she is on the pill. Is it safe to
forget the condom when she is on the pill?
How effective is the pill? Is it
sufficient protection? Any insight would
be appreciated! Thanks!

There will be people who will spout off
about how the pill isn't fool proof and
try to convince you how foolish you are if
you don't use the pill and a condom. I
myself am on the pill and I have
unprotected sex all the time and am not,
nor have I ever been, pregnant. I,
personally, think you are safe as long as
your girlfriend takes it everyday at
roughly the same time and does not miss
one single pill. If she does start
missing some pills then yes, there is a
very real possibility you could get her
pregnant. As long as she is responsible
about taking the pills every day I believe
you are safe.

Are you and your girlfriend exclusive??I
would use condoms for the entire first
pack.If you both are not intimate with any
others,by all means go commando after
that!

Pattyv is correct, most clinics ans dr's.
And nurses will tell you the same thing,
it even says this on the b/c pamphlet
information, you might even check out the
spermicide one's, as sometimes they can
come off, dreak, whatever and it is
cheaper to spend a few extra dollars on
condems then a baby and you have to
realize that men do throw some in-active
bullets every now and then and I
understand that they are not comfortable,
even for us women, I was told that it was
like taking a shower with your socks on,
but sometimes your socks need washing
also!
I do wish the best for you both!
Sincerely,
sandy

Just because one person does not get
pregnant on the pill does not mean that no
one will. I have four friends who all
got pregnant on the pill. It is up to
you two, but the bottom line is if you do
not want a child, then use a condom also.
The pill is only 99% effective and that
is if it is taken correctly. If you do
not want to use condoms then try foam or
vaginal inserts with spermicide. You can
never be too careful, and as I said just
because it works for some people does not
mean that it will work for everyone. It
is actually pretty irresponsible to tell
someone that they will not get pregnant as
long as they take the pill almost
correctly.

Did I call it or what? Sensationalism.

It's only sensationalism if you're not the
one that has an accidental pregnancy.

Doctors will even tell you to use extra
protection.
As I said four of my friends didn't get
pregnant until they went onto the pill.
My best friend got pregnant three times on
depo.
So, take it how you will. Lots of people
do not get pregnant when on the pill and
without using backup method, but that does
not mean that it will work for everyone.
People get pregnant on the pill all of the
time.
It is just like people who smoke and drink
the whole way through pregnancy, but there
baby turns out fine. That doesn't mean
that every woman can do that and expect to
have a healthy baby.
What works for one person may not work for
another. That is all I am saying. I am
sorry that people get offended by me
speaking the truth, but at least I am not
setting the original poster up for a
little "surprise"

Oh, and keep in mind that a lot of
medication and herbs render birth control
ineffective.
Examples are: st. John's wart and
antibiotics, so be careful. Antibiotics
usually say that in the pamphlet, but
herbal remedies and herbal "vitamins" if
you will, do not have to state that on the
label. So, use caution.

Thanks for the advice! I think I will
just discuss the options with her and see
what she thinks. When she had sex with
her ex, they had sex for years with only
the pill and no condom-and---no pregnancy.
But I agree with you guys, obviously the
more protection I use, the safer it is.
I hate condoms so I will discuss other
possibilities with her in hopes of using
more protection with the pill. Thanks so
much and god bless.
