Truck Driver With Bad Teeth Posted: 09-22-03 15:29pm
My husband is a truck driver and does not
take care of his teeth. He is only 26
years old, but they are already rotting.
He has been to two dentists and was told
that he needs 14 root canals, 14 crowns,
and 12 cavities filled. The quote to
have just this part done is over $10,000
and our insurance only covers $1,000.
Even after he has all this work done, he
probably won't take care of his teeth any
better than what he's doing now. We are
considering just having his teeth
extracted and getting dentures. What are
the pros and cons for this considering his
lifestyle? Also, he has an appointment
for a scaling and root planing this friday
(sept 26th), but does he still need to
have this done if he plans to just have
his teeth extracted later? Please
someone help us!!!!!!

If he doesnt take care of his teeth now
like you said he wont take care of them if
he gets them fixed. So spending all that
money to get them fixed would be a waste
of money that you probably dont want to
spend. I would talk to your dentist about
maybe getting a top and bottom partial.
They can keep his good teeth and extract
the bad ones. This will still cost quite
a bit of money but not near as much as
getting all of his teeth fixed. Well,
good luck to you!

My personal oppinion...I would just get
him dentures...If he is too lazy to brush
them, he can just throw them in a cup with
a denture cleaning tablet and call it good
enough.
