When to Tell People? Sad News Posted: 06-28-04 20:00pm
Hi all,
i am around 6/7 weeks pregnant. I was
just wondering whats the best time to tell
people your expecting? I have told my
husband (obviously) but I really want to
tell my sister in law as she has 2
children and its good to have someone to
talk about about symptoms etc (she did not
tell anyone she was pregnant with her 1st
until 5 months!!)!! My parents live in
the uk and I really want them to know too,
but i'm scared of saying anything incase I
miscarry.
Just wondering what your thoughts are on
the subject?
Thanks

I didn't find out I was pregnant for sure
until I was 10 weeks along. Of course I
told my husband, but I too wasn't sure
about telling anyone else for a while just
in case. But after talking it over with
my husbabnd we decided it was probably
better for us to tell the family since: 1)
we can't keep a secret that good, and 2)
our families are very close to us. So if
we did miscarry, our families would be
able to understand if our moods changed
from gleefully happy to depressed, and
they would be there to support us
emotionally. Thankfully though that
never happened.
It has been very nice to have family to
talk to through everything so far for
us.
Congradulations and good luck with
everything!

I told everyone when I was around 8 weeks
(when I found out). I only told them
because my 8 year old sister told a lot of
people. I would tell one person (someone
to talk to) but wait until you are 12-14
weeks.

Wait 2 Tell Posted: 07-02-04 07:03am
Yeah I agree you should wait untill you
are further along. Just for the fact that
this early there is a still a chance that
the pregnancy might not go through. When
it's this early miscarrige is very likley
still and I would wait untill your
pregnancy has stabalized itself and you
feel it is secure. I only warn you of
this because I made the mistake of telling
everyone around the 9/10 week and the
following had a miscarrige. It was
horrible having everyone all excited and
then having to tell them that I
miscarried. So for your sake, your
hubby's sake and your friends & fam, I
would definatley wait a while to see how
it goes. I know it's realllllly hard to
keep a secret like that.. But shhh...
Wait just a little longer and it will pay
off trust me.
Good luck!
Congrats! And be safe!

Thanks everyone who replied.
Sadly I miscarried last night and I
had not told anyone, but it hurt just as
much telling my mum and family that i'd
lost the baby.

Hi there, i'm sorry about the sad news.
But always think on the brighter side of
it, it happened for the best and I am sure
you will have another one. Take care and
good luck.
Sorry to hear about that i'm sure it must
be tough to deal with. Hopefully within
time you may decide to have another one.
Things happen for a reason even if no one
understands why.
Sorry.
