what is a chiropractor looking for when he
does and open-mouth x-ray and what is the
bone thingy (for lack of a better word)
that sticks up (shown on x-ray) called?
Hope this wasn't a dumb question but I
can't find it anywhere and he's out of
town so I can't ask lol

He's just getting you to open your mouth
to get the jaw bone out of the way for a
clear view of the neck, to make sure
everything's in place.
