Does anyone here have gestational diabetes
or has had it, or know what it feels like?
Ever since I got pregnant, sugar makes me
feel soooo bad! When do they test for it?
I think I might ask my doc to test me at
my next appointment on 7-7.

I looked up in my book what some of the
symptoms are...Excesseive hunger and
thirst, frequent urination, recurent
vaginal monilial infections, and an
increase in blood pressure....And they
usually test between 24 and 28 weeks of
pregnancy... I got mine done last week, I
was 27 weeks.

Well, all those are symptoms of pregnancy
or increase with pregnancy anyway!
I just feel really really crappy everytime
I have any sugar of any kind, and I feel
crappy if I don't eat right at the right
time every day.

My aunt has diabetes, just tell ur doc and
maybe she'll check u sooner than between
those times that they normally check it.
U could have it my aunt has to eat at
certain times and if she doesnt or misses
it she feels realy sick. Id just ask
thats all ya can do. Hope ya find out
whats goin on.

They thought I had it but I dont luckily I
dont. He said I am border line so not to
go overboard on eating alot of sugar.
Anyhow, those are the symptoms. They
tested me at 28 weeks which is most common
when they do the glucose tolerance test
(when u drink the orange stuff) how many
weeks r u?

Since your going then they will probably
check baby for the spina bifida, down
syndrome, and the other thing I can not
remember. They do that between 16-18
weeks but they did me at 15 cause that was
when I was there, lol. All they do is
take your blood and send it off. Since
they are doing that anyways they probably
will go ahead and check for gestational
diabetes you go in. Try not to eat or
drink any sugar cause when you go in you
got to drink the orange stuff which is
like pure sugar and it will make your
sugar go up and then you will have to do
the 3 hour test which they take your blood
4 times in 3 hours!!!! Usually they tell
you to fast. Try your best hun. If I
were you I would call and see when they
are gonna do the test for the baby and ask
them if they could also check you for the
gest diab. They thought I had it but told
me I did not have to fast, so big fat
dummy me thought okay I will have a pepsi
to wake me up some. Hahaha I only made
myself suffer by having to have needle
work done again!!! Good luck and let us
know.
Lots of love,
heather and hayley
