Maternity Leave* Posted: 07-02-04 10:40am
K. Well at my work if you don’t remember
(i talked about it a few months back) when
you are pregnant, if you havent been here
a year, your maternity leave is no-pay.
Also your supposed to fill out forms of
termination and then they re-hire you..
Well at first I was soo pissed and worried
about not getting my job back, but my boss
reassured me that I will without a doubt
and ive proved to be a terrific worker (so
that’s some good news, my hard work payed
off!) anyhow, I decided today to tell them
my last day will be the 16th of this
month. Do you think that sounds about
right? I mean, they know that there is a
chance I could go into labor sooner,
therefore stop work sooner, but im just
saying if that doesn’t happen. They
induce me on the 22nd (latest the 25th) if
I don’t have him.. So I figure if I don’t
go early that my last day would be 7-16..
But then im thinking.. Maybe I should
work up to 6-21 if I don’t go into labor.
Which do you think? I could use the extra
3-4 work days of money.. But I was
thinking I would need those few days
before delivery for rest, getting ready
etc. What do you think? Thanks!
I would take off a few days earlier like
you said. You need to be able to rest,
relax, and prepare!
Love ya,
chanda

Depends on how much work you do. Like
here I kick back and sit at my desk and
get up sometimes so I told my boss I plan
to stay until my water breaks lmao or I
get contractions. But you should check
into filing for maternity leave with the
workers comp board. Because I thought my
work paid for it when actually you have to
file paper work with the workers comp
place. And I have to file for that like a
month early so they can send my checks for
november on time. And they deduct it in
taxes and stuff so who knows. You should
call and see anyways.
But work until you feel like you cant do
it because your gonna deliver soon and
stuff. If you want to rest then take it
off, but extra money is alot of help.
Take the time to keep thinking about it.
I think they added 6 extra days with pay
for the medical leave act and my boss said
thats good news so he wants me to take all
6 weeks off and if I need any more time I
can, so I can stay with the baby, so im
excited about that!

Take much time as you can get! I wasnt
due till the 24th of june my last day of
work was going to be the 11th but I went
for an appointment on the 8th and they
made me have a c-section that day! So if
you can afford to then I would quit work
at least at 38 weeks. U need all the rest
you can get b/c you never know what might
happen.
