a Few Questions (before I Kill My Computer...) Posted: 07-06-04 15:20pm
Ok, I typed this once and explorer just
closed for no reason so to save my sanity
i'm not retyping the whole story, just the
questions:
can ibuprofen affect menstaul bleeding and
breakthrough bleeding? I've had slight
breakthrough bleeding for the past two
days and since I had cramps I took
ibuprofen. Then the bleeding stopped but
came back suddenly when the ibuprofen wore
off.
Also, since I just switched from depo to
the pill could my body think i'm supposed
to have a period now but the pill's
ingrediants are trying to hold it back?
It's my last active week of pills and on
depo I had a period constantly which
stopped just a few days before I took the
first pill. So could it think that now is
period time which is why I suddenly have
spots of red blood? Would this clear up
by the next cycle?
Thanks!

Your body is probably just getting used to
the new hormones in the pill. Any time
you start any new pill you are suppose to
give it three months to regulate. So, if
your period is not normal after three
months, then you may want to consider
switching pills. But, right now with
your spotting, it is most likely normal.
As for ibuprofin. I know that it thins
your blood, but I am not sure if it
actually affects your period or not.
If you get any serious side effects from
your pill then you can ask your doctor to
switch before the three months is up, but
if it is just minor like breakthrough
bleeding in the first month then don't
worry about it.
If you continue to bleed and it is
bothersome, just call your doctor and see
what he/she tells you to do.

Side Effect of Depo Posted: 09-07-04 03:32am
I have been on depo for about 7 months and
I have been having breakthrough bleeding
since starting depo. Its almost as
though I am constantly bleeding. Is this
normal?? Could it be that depo is too
strong for my body. Before depo I had
been on the pill and never had breakthough
bleeding so when all this started it
really scared me. Is this bleeding
normal or is something wrong??

It is "normal" for the depo shot. Very,
very few women actually have a normal
cycle on depo. Some are lucky and get no
period, but for the general population,
you will just bleed the whole time.
If it bothers you (and I cannot see how it
wouldn't) I would go back on the pill.
