Have the Surgery Now Or Later...
Posted: 07-06-04 18:18pm

I have 2 questions that are very important to me: here is my situation. I have just been told that my mri revealed that I ruptured the tendon in my left knee. This is the tendon that holds the knee cap in place. I have no severe pain or discomfort and very little swelling in the knee area.

1. What is the usual recovery time for this type of surgery? I am scheduled to start the police academy on 12 july 2004 but it is obviuos that won't happen. Is possible to attend the next class which starts 10 weeks later? I am a very athletic and muscular person. I have been physically active in health activities all my life.

2. Is it possible for me to attend the academy if I wear a brace to help stablize the knee as I have 75% range of motion and very little pain or discomfort. The physical demands in the course are not that brutal or demanding.

I know this may seem to be a bit out of the ordinary but I just want to know. It never hurt anyone to ask a question. I appreciate any help or information you can give me regarding my situation.
