I was recently diagnossed with galblader
disease, I need help on what this does to
your body. You see my girlfriend says I
could die from it, I know that the
prosedure is a simple one to remove it, it
is now out patient and all done with
lasers through a tiny hole in your
abdomen, but what after the prosedure? Do
I take meds to help me digest foods? My
doctor said that the gallblader causes
alot of ailments, such as losing your
hair, and gaining weight, are these true?

I'm Having Surgery Too. Posted: 09-03-04 17:19pm
I'm a little scared about the surgery, but
I just want to feel better. If your
gallbladder gets infected, it can be very
serious. It can infect your pancreas.
Are you having a lot of symptoms? Your
doctor said that gallbladder can cause
hair loss? Is this if there are
gallbladder problems? I'm having hair
loss and that would be great if it was
related, then I would know.

hair loss??? Weight gain??? That
sounds more like a metabolic problem, like
a thyroid disorder. You are more likely
to lose weight from the pain, nausea, and
vomiting. Death from a gallbladder
attack is very rare. Usually it's the
very old or chronicly ill who are most
likely to have fatal complications.
Endoscopic cholecystectomy involves three
holes in the abdomen. Complications are
rare. Recovery time two to three weeks.
Probably longer for heavy lifting.

Hair loss & weight problems sounds
more like a thyroid problem to me too. I
had my gallbladder removed 2 days ago
& am now home from hospital. Yes I am
uncomfortable, but nothing pain killers
arent helping. Gallbladder disease can
get nasty, if its not removed. There can
be problems with your pancreas, if stones
become lodged in your bile duct. However
there can be problems with any surgery, so
speak to your dr about your worries.

i just had mine removed in august. It's a
very easy procedure. Listen to your
doctor. Sometimes even the best of
friends can scare you.
