Are the Funky Looks I'm Getting Justified? Posted: 07-08-04 10:35am
My husband and I have both decided we love
these names for our baby (not a clue to
it's gender yet) but we are getting alot
of resistance from our parents, and random
people who ask what names we've thought of
give us really funny looks. Are they
really that bad?
Girl: rhapsody dianne
boy: garion robert
people who love to read will probably
recognize the names from books by david
eddings and elizabeth haydon. The
character namesakes are both very strong,
moral people.
Thanks for your help

I Think the Names Are Cute And Unique! Posted: 07-09-04 15:30pm
It doesn't matter what other people think,
the only thing that matters is you and
this baby. If you feel, that these are
the names that will suit your baby the
best, go for it. It's not their child.
However, I have heard of many situations
where you have a name picked out, and when
the baby comes something else fits better.
In any case, I think they are very nice
names. I myself also like unique names
that way your baby won't have to share
their name with tons of other people.
Congrats on the baby!! Good luck in
everything

Tell Them to Stuff It! Posted: 08-03-04 12:35pm
Maybe the funny looks you get are only
from people who read those authors.
Kinda like if I named my children harry,
ron and harmione, most people would look
at me funny. (or robert langdon for any
dan brown fans)
i like your names, they are unique, and I
am not familiar with those authors, so I
didn't notice. The names are nice.
Tell people to stuff it, I have had to my
whole life, my name it kitryn, and my
children are conor, seanan and clareigh!

Different Names Posted: 12-13-04 09:27am
My childrens names are tabitha, blake and
bronte. I have always loved names. I
chose these names because of the meanings.
Tabitha means graceful as a gazelle,
blake means arbritrator, and bronte is
twofold, it meash thunder and is for emily
and charlotted bronte the authors.
I get funny looks and even my mother asked
me to use emily instead of bronte when she
was born!
If it means something to you then the
child will also love it. My children all
know that their names are special to me.

They are quite odd names, they arent gross
or anything by any means tho.
Screw other people. What matters is you
and your baby, if its right for you and
them when you have them in yoru arms, then
its your choice as a parent... Your first
decision for the rest of their life... I
mean they are going to blame you whether
they like it or not anyways, whether is
odd or not hehe
