What Is Safe?
Posted: 07-09-04 02:04am

Well... If anyone has seen my post they know I am having major back problems, I thought it was a kidney but thank god it was a pinched nerve, the thing is the only thing strong enough for the pain is ibuprofen, and the docs at the hospital didnt want to give it to me to be on the safe side, but I am just curious to know if it is safe or not.

Hi meagan,
it's not safe during the 1st and 3rd trimesters, especially the 3rd trimester (sorry I forget why tho!).. And it's recommended if u take it in the 2nd trimester u ask your doctor first. If in doubt, ring a pharmacy and ask to speak to the pharmacist if it's too hard to get in contact with your dr immediately.
Hope that helps Smile

I wouldnt take it either . Ive had a pinched nerve in my upper back for 2 months now that kills constantly unless im laying down, but ive unfortunatly learned to deal with it, I refuse to take any medicines. Tylenol is fine to take but I wont even take that~

I would never take ibuprofen during pregnancy... Its not even safe to take when your not preggy, it makes your stomach bleed. But yea, I wouldnt risk it even in the 2nd trimester. It can cause deformities, and other birth defects. I think I remember reading something about genital deformities from taking ibuprofen during pregnancy, but im not sure, but still!

Thanks everyone for your help it seems like I should just leave ibuprofen alone and I think I will for the baby. Pinched nerves really suck and the worst part is I just wanna know how to unpinch it and it has to do it on its own. Thanks.
