Could This Be Epilepsy?
Posted: 07-09-04 16:20pm

Hello. I'm 14, this is my first post on the forum. Last night I either fainted or has a seizure. I'm not sure exactly what it was, so i'll post what happened.

It was 11:55, and I was standing in front of the mirror, i'd just used the mouthwash and was putting was on the back bracket of my brace because it was digging into my lip. Then, I started to get dizzy but I thought it was a usual dizzy spell, you know when you start to get dizzy but it goes away after a couple of seconds.
So anyway, I ignored it then the next thing I know everythings gradually going black and i've started shaking really badly. Twitching back and forth quickly. Then I started to fall over, bashed my chin on the sink, and my head on the door. It took me about 20 seconds to hit the floor.
Then I was just sat there. I wasn't sure if i'd actually fallen over or wether i'd sat down to stop being dizzy and just dreamed it. But I stood up and saw I had blood running down my chin.
My mum says I probably was just tired (but I usually go to sleep later than that) or hadn't eaten enough (braces make it hard to eat, but I guess i'm eating enough though) or accidently stopped breathing and didn't realise it.

I'm confused as to what happened, if I fainted or wether I had a seizure. Also, i'm not sure what caused it. If anyone has any information i'd be very grateful to hear from you.

Ok I have had epilepsy all my life and if you just fell like that does not sound right. A lot of people get warnings or feelings of it coming on. A taste in there mouth etc. I have a friend that had something just like you said and she now has anxiety attacks and also not eatting right can cause all that you have to get checked out for that. Thanks for the reply. I've had a look at information on anxiety attacks but I can't find anything on seizures like this. Does anyone have any links?
