I'm Late For My Shot!
Posted: 07-15-04 11:22am

Well I have been taking the depo provera shot for 6 months, but I am a little over two weeks late on getting my last shot. Two days after I was supposed to get it I had unprotected sex then started my period. Then two days after my period I had unprotected sex again. I wanted to know if it is possible that I could be pregnant or was the shot still effective at those times. I'm scared and I need someone help and advice. Can you help me? Thanks. Sad

I'm on the shot and I think they give you the shot 2 weeks ahead of time, just for safety reasons such as this. Yeah, that must be it because I am do for my 5th shot in one year and that wouldn't be possible if they didn't give it to you earlier than you were actually due. You should be fine, but take a test to be sure.

Yeah.. I would say it could go either way. There's no guaruntee if you don't get the shot on time. I would ask your doctor or the nurse to see what they say because if there's a potential for you to be pregnant they may not want you to take your next shot... However from everything I read I hear that it takes at least 6 months for most people (not all) to get back to a regular cycle where they can get pregnant after being on the shot. So I wouldn't panic, but I agree you might want to take a test anyway.
