What Can I Do? Posted: 07-15-04 15:15pm
I am a 29 yr. Old female. I am 5'4" and
I used to be in shape and about 125. In
my thinner days I was 115. I am now
142!!! Ugh. I don't look too bad but I
am real down about how I have this tummy
and all of a sudden since I turned 29.. I
see some cellulite on my outer thigh...
I keep saying I will start excersising
again.. But I al always too tired! I get
home from work and I am just to weak..
I eat good on and off.. This week I have
been good..
I want to get back in shape and lose 22
pounds! I just feel totally unmotivated..
I am on anti-depressants.. I think they
also had something to do with me being
more tired and gaining the weight..
Will someone give me some helpful advice?

If you are really motivated to lose weight
and get in shape then you would do it.
You could try ding it in the morning if
you feel to tired after work. Its all
about self dicipline and self motivation
of how much you want lift or if you really
want to do it all.

More Than Mere Motivation>>>> Posted: 08-01-04 13:09pm
Motivation is only one part of the
equation, medications of any type
(especially anti-depressants though) can
cause you to gain weight, then there's
your life - family, work, finances &
whatever has caused you to be on
anti-depressants all this goes to making
it easier or harder to get motivated.
Depending on why you are on meds, I would
suggest that your best way to lose weight
is to work on your
depression>>>>> reduce
this>>>off mmeds>>>more
energy & happier>>>exercise
will be easier as will eating right etc
>>>loss of weight!!
Suggestions on how to reduce depression;
try to take a 30 minute walk around dawn
(or as close as you can) as there is
something in the suns rays at this
hour(even when overcast) that works in
tandem with exercise to balance the
serotonin levels in your brain &
reduce stress. Along with this you could
take supplements such as sam-e, dhea,
vitamin b, st johns wort, valerian, (all
reduce stress - but do not take the
all!!!!) also 5htp (tryptophan) which is
what our body converts tryptophan in foods
to & then it goes to our brain to
balance serotonin (but if our stress
levels overload this system can in effect
fail).
Another natural way to reduce stress,
anxiety, depression, sleep problems, etc
etc is to use a ces machine or sound/light
machine (check out dynamind.Com).
Remember too that if you slip back one day
there's tomorrow don't be so hard on
yourself that you just get more depressed.

Hey wants 2 stay happy!! Yes, medications
do play a huge part in energy level,
especially anti- depressants, they all
work differently in people, if you don't
mind my asking what med are you on? I
would definetly try doing what eric
suggested and start in the morning, that
way it will give you a huge energy boost
before you head off to work, and tehn you
don;t have to dread the workout once you
get out from work, thats actually what
i've started doing...Start out little,
even go for a 2 mile walk , and gradually
build up. Your want is definetly there,
and once you begin your motivation will
gradually build...Good luck!!
