Is This a Uti??? Posted: 07-15-04 22:02pm
Hey,
ok, be warned, this post may be tmi.
That being said, recently i've had to pee
much more frequently (i keep waking up in
the night and needing to go which never
happens to me) and when I go it hurts
right after. Not burny-like, like
intense abdominal cramping. Is this a
uti? Does anyone know what it is?
Thanks for trying to help!

I think it might be. I think i'm getting
one too. First question is: how long has
this been going on? Whenever I feel any
symptoms I try to drink insane amounts of
water to prevent it from getting worse.
I usually stop it there, but if the pain
is severe or you've experienced this for a
few days you need to get antibiotics to
kill it. They sell test strips at the
drugstore now to let you know or not.
Some doctors will let you call in with
your results and they will give you a
prescription for cipro. In the meantime
if you are in pain go buy azo-standard.
It helps a lot. If you are sexually
active and on birth control use condoms
while taking cipro. Cranberry juice also
helps. Not the cranberry coctail with
all the sugar, get the natural kind.
Don't drink caffiene either. Good luck!
Hope this helps.

Im not so sure that is a uti. I have had
several and you generally feel unwell,
tired and the most telling sign is the
burning and stinging (from where you pee)
right after you go and also a contant
feeling like you need to pee but not very
much comes out.
The adominal cramping you describe sounds
like somethingmore serious like and
infection or (if you've had unprotected
sex) pelvic inflmatory disease.
I think you should see a doctor.

You could also have bacterial vaginosis.
It is a very common bacterial infection
"down there" it can cause cramping and
such. You may have a uti, but you would
most likely have burning. But, it could
also be a kindey infection or kidney
stones.
My advice would be to go to your doctor
and make sure. It is probably something
simple that can be fixed easily and you
will not have to suffer anymore!
