Miscarriage - I Ask Myself Why?
Posted: 07-17-04 11:06am

Just had a miscarriage, couple of days ago. It was the worst nightmare I ever experience in my whole life. Only a few days before my doctor had told me that I am pregnant. I was 7 weeks far. My boyfriend and me were very happy about it when we found out, but then only a few days after, I started having cramps combined with bleeding. I went to my gyno for a check up and the ultrasound showed everything was allright with the baby as for now, but if the bleeding got any heavier I should go immediately to the hospital. That night bleeding started getting massive, it wouldnt stop as well as the pain. I hoped it would go away, but also was prepared that it could be something serious. I prayed that my baby would survive. In the morning I checked in to the hospital where they diagnosed a miscarriage. No heartbeat - nothing. I was under shock and burst out in tears.
They told me they would have to make a d&c as for to remove the rest of the bodyparts.
At first I refused, because, I couldnt realize my baby was dead.
After a long talk with the doctor, I agreed as it was the best for my health.
I am a mother of a 4-year old daughter, my first pregnancy was normal, no complications, nothing.
I still do not know how deal with it all, and ask myself why? And what my fault was.
Now I am scared I might have a next miscarriage or dont even know if I might get pregnant again.

Thank you!

I am so sorry that this happened but I hope you do not blame yourself in any way-miscarriage happens & is in no way the fault of the mother.
The d&c must have been so hard but it's important that you consider your health in all of this & i'm glad you realised it was neccesary.
Because of what you've been through its only natural that you will worry about getting pregnant again. Many women have miscarriages & go on to have healthy pregnancies. My mom for one had 2 miscarriages but went on to have 4 perfectly healthy children.Perhaps you should take time out to grieve for your loss before you consider trying for another baby.It is also important to wait for a few months to make sure your body has recovered but these are things for doctor will tell you.
I wish you all the best for the future & hope that in term you will come to terms with this

After reading your post it helps me a little to know that there are women out there who are going through exactly what I am going through. I had my first miscarriage at 10 weeks. The dr's didn't see a heart beat, had a d&c and then had 3 periods and became pregnant again. Today june 23 found out that there is no heart beat again. The first one was in march. I feel blessed to be able to get pregnant again so fast but will now be very scared to become again just incase this happens again. The most asked question is why me but I will never know. It comforts me to know that there are women who have been through this and can understand what I am going through, I really haven't had anyone to talk to about this and look forward to hearing from anyone who wishes to share stories and hopes with me.

Thanks cathy2
