this may be one option for you if you
have fibroids. You didn't say what the
cause of your uterus being so swollen was.
But this is what my problem is, and
although I am considering embolization,
the GYN also found polyps during the
D&C and hysteroscopy he was
performing. I am afraid these will return.
Not having any more children and I am
considering hysterectomy also because I'm
not sure my insurance will cover this
embolization, you have to call them. It is
NOT experimental, this has been done since
the 70's. looks great in theory, just
havent' made my mind up yet. And, although
fibroids don't cause major medical
problems other than pain and bleeding (you
would think that would be enough) Dr's.
just say "wait" after menopause they will
probably shrink. But that's not
necessarily true.
You really have to decide for yourself the
course of action. Somehow, that doesn't
seem fair to me, but I guess with all the
hoopla about unnecessary hysterectomies,
we have to decide on our own. My GYN never
pushed the hysterectomy on me, just gave
me options. The embolization requires a
radiologist also, and a lot of GYN's do
not have this experience.. My Gyn admitted
he did not. Good luck to you and if you
would like to talk I would love to chat
about it, since I havent' made my mind up
yet either!!!
