Hi,
i was added to the population of skin
cancer patients a couple weeks ago after
an end-of-friday call about my biopsy for
a repeatedly scabbing place up on my nose
near my eye. Since then I just had mohs
surgery a few days ago for the basal cell
carcinoma it turned out to be. The
biopsy said it was micronodular. The
first round led me to a 2nd round going
fortunately up rather than even closer to
my eye, down deep toward my brain, or to
my sinuses (phew), but still no fun. The
rest of what was removed was superficial.
I ended up with 4 outer stitches and a
few inner stitches leading up to a rubbery
glob packed over an open round spot near
my eye. My big concern is that i've read
that the subtype of micronodular is
aggressive, and deceptive clinically so
that it can extend out to recur again.
I'm also under 40 and have a history of
endometriosis/recurrent endometrioma and a
hemangioma in one side of a vertebral
body. Back in the back of my mind I
wonder can they be related? I've had 15
surgeries in all for various things:
trigger thumb, tonsillectomy, bunion,
nerve entrapments, torn pinky tendon,
missing tissue between wrist bones, kidney
stones, fissures, and endometriosis, and
was actually thinking of going on strike
against surgeries when I got the call from
the dermatologist telling me I needed mohs
as soon as possible. Does anyone out
there know any more or have experience
with micronodular basal cell carcinomas?
How many of you started getting treatments
for bcc's before age 40?
Thanks!
