Huni, it's the new mother thing. You'll
have to adjust to the changes that come
along with having a kid. Don't give up on
anything yet. It will get better and
easier. Let me tell you a little secret,
and it dosen't hurt the child. When you
are at your wits end, you can't hear
another cry for at least a minute. Lay
him in his crib where he can't like choke
or anything. Go out and shut the door.
Let him cry for a minute or two. #1:
crying is actully stregnthening his lungs
so it's good for him #2: you have a minute
to calm down, collect yourself again, and
be ready toi care for him again.
Now, remember, he's still verrrrrrrrry
newborn so I wouldn't reccomend that you
leave him alone crying for more than a
minute or so. But let him cry. Go where
you are alone and calm down a bit. Go
back in and try with him again. It'll be
ok huni. It's new~
love,
chanda

Kari, kari, kari! Welcome to motherhood!
Breastfeeding does hurt, alot, at
first..You have to toughen up ur nipples~
they are gonna crack and scab up but I
recommend lasinol boobie cream! Its
expensive but its good!

About his crying and not sleeping in his
crib- think about it from his perspective:
he is used to a warm dark wet place where
he is surrounded by his mommy where he
feels comfortable and safe. All of a
sudden he goes through 13 hours of being
pushed and squeezed out of a tiny opening
into a very cold room with lots of weird
creatures he's never seen before poking
and prodding him and passing him around.
He's cold and dry and now has to wear
clothes and diapers and he's got this
brand new sense called sight that he's
trying to make sense of. He's probably
scared as sh|t! I'd cry too, and I
definitely wouldn't feel comfortable
enough to sleep for a while!

Yea I agree with the girls it's new and
you have to adjust to the new changes but
within time it will get better. It's your
first baby anyways and don't give up on
anything.

Hang in there girl! My only advice (even
though I have no clue what its like) is to
try your best to sleep when he sleeps!
Especially for these first few weeks!
Things will get better, and he will get
more into a routine within a couple of
weeks! And remember...When it gets
overwhelming like that ask for help! I
know you have a great supportive family
that will be there for ya! Good luck hun!

Yea breast feeding is tuff but hand in
there! A good way that I got alexa to go
to sleep after nursing is laying down with
her turned toward me.She would always go
right back to sleep at night. But if he
dont sleep in the same bed as you then you
might not can do that.Alexa sleeps with
me!
Good luck and hang in there!

Am I the only one who had easy and
painless breastfeeding? The only pain I
ever had was the dull ache for a minute
when let-down occured. Lol. Oh well I
guess i'm lucky. Kari hun, I know how you
feel. Sometimes josh refuses to sleep and
I just wanna scream!!! Lol. Something I
know helps, try not to hold him while he's
sleeping. I know during that first week I
just could not let go of him for a second.
And I brought him into bed with me a lot.
My advice: rock him to sleep. Then put
him down. Dont hold him any longer than
necessary. Swaddle him if you arent
already doing so. And rub his belly for a
minute after you put him down. Putting
him in his crib should be a gradual
process that takes about 3 minutes! Lol.
Seems like a waste of time but I swear it
works! Also, try not to put them in their
swing too much. I did that and I paid for
it! Lol. Fortunately its not so bad now
but dont make that mistake! Hope this
helps!

This one girl I know, her baby wouldnt
sleep good, so she had her blanky and
wrapped her tight like a worm and she
slept perfect. I think its because the
baby is used to being squished in the
belly so in doing that it helps. I dont
know maybe try that

Yeah its the same reason why shushing them
calms them. They are used to all the
noise inside your body.

Oh yeah, I wanted to metion that a couple
of weeks ago I was watching discovery
health, and a story was on about crying
babies. The man said to swaddle the baby,
(like they do in the hospital), then to
lay them on their side, and that should
quiet them down, but if it doesn't all you
have to do is say shhhhhhhhhh in their ear
(while you are still holding them on their
side on your lap). He said to make sure
that you are louder than or at least as
loud as the baby, cuz if not they won't
even pay attention. He said that the
shhhh sound works b/c ,while they are in
the womb that is all they hear with blood
flowing and everything, it gives them a
sense of home. I think its kind of
cute.
Ohh I just noticed that there are simialar
(sp) posts. Ohh well.

Keep your head up sweety, nursing is hard
for the first couple weeks, your nipples
are toughing up and getting used to it..
After the 4 weeks nursing should be a
breeze and it becomes really enjoyable and
a wonderful time to bond with baby.
Also.. The sleep thing... Always sleep
when they sleep... Showers and cleaning
can wait... Sleep you need it!
