Again I am lost as to your exact question
- again of course you are posting one
question here & another there &
another in yet another & another post
- so it becomes very hard to know what you
are really asking or whether what you are
doing is merely research for an article or
assignment??
Still, if here you are asking something
along the lines of is depresion, mental
illness & a life on drugs all there is
left then that really is up to you - &
to the degree of severity of your illness
- you can choose to let your "condition"
& your meds rule your life or you can
take control of your life.
There are aside from prescribed meds
natural meds, natural therapies & such
things as sound/light & ces machines
which can help you - you may still need
prescribed meds but you would probably
benefit from some of these other options -
you should certainly look into them.

It just seems to me that the options for
the differential diagnosis are quite
limited in scope. And I wonder are these
the only conditions that correspond to a
psychotic episode symptoms. Actually I
still wonder whether my ilness is
schizophrenia.

Having (myself & other family members)
experienced incorrect diagnosis by drs
& specialists in several areas of
medicine inc mental, I am firmly of the
opinion that getting a 2nd opinion is
always wise especially when dealing with
either a serious or lifelong
illness/condition!!
But, that is sometimes hard to do - so
first do not tell the 2nd dr that you are
seeking a 2nd opinion as many tend to
"agree" with their peers. Try to find a
dr who is referred by a patient who says
that the dr listens, thinks outside the
square & is prepared to consider boith
alternative treatments & alternative
diagnoses.
Keep researching yourself (symptoms,
family histories, treatment alternatives,
alternative medicines etc etc) on the net
via sites like google & yahoo. You
might also look into auto immune
disorders, & oddly enough "causes for
weight change" can take you to some
interesting sites & strange often
unheard of conditions which can cause
soooooooooooo many different things -
again perhaps just worth a look see.
But please try to limit your questions to
one on-going post as with just one
question per site it is hard for the
reader to get an overall understanding of
what you are ssaying/asking/experiencing
& so very hard for us to offer real
help/advice. Whereas if you post your
next question after this one or along with
it then readers can get a more complete
idea of what you are asking etc.

Social Withdrawal Posted: 07-26-04 04:35am
I had a schizophrenic episode but my
diagnose is still dubious.I haven't got
enough literature about the desease and
therefore I put again and again my
questions here. I am still too frightened
and I am doing this in a scetchy way.
Also I don't know how good is my enlish.
I am sorry for all that.
Now another question is in my mind. I
have noticed that my relations with
friends are reduced for several years and
I avoid people. I am asking: does social
withdrawal include also isolation from
family? Because my communication with my
parents is rather intensive and excellent.

Your english is much better than some who
post here whose first language is english
- so don't worry on that score.
Social withdrawal can happen at any time
for many reasons (quite aside from any
mental health diagnosis) - as to whether
or not relations with your family are
affected - not necessarily - it depends on
the strength of your relationship with
them before, the extent of any
illness(mental or physical for that
matter) & how you (& they) handle
it. Also meds can impact on your
behaviour & therefore also affect
relationships (positively or
negatively).
The degree of any social isolation
(whether from society, friends or family)
though is in part also up to you - you can
fight your tendency to withdraw & you
can overcome (at least to an extent again
dependent on meds, degree of illness &
strength of relationships & strength
of your desire to maintain relaionships)
social & personal relationship
withdrawal.
