On Bc And Missed Period!!! Posted: 07-22-04 11:54am
I started taking ortho tri-cyclen lo in
may the sunday after my period. I was
previously on cyclessa for 10 months... I
think that pill was too strong... It was
giving me terrible migraines. I was off
the pills for a month before starting
ortho. I got a normal period in may and
june. In july I had spotting for 6 days
the week before I was supposed to get my
period. Then I did not get my period the
week I was supposed to. The week that I
had the spotting, I had cramps as well. I
took a pg test on saturday morning and it
was neg... So what does this mean? Is my
body just trying to adjust to the new
pill... Could the pg test be wrong? Is
the pill not strong enough? If it is not
strong enough does that mean it's not
working? I did have unprotected sex with
my bf about 2 or 3 times between june and
july. I do not miss pills ever!!!!!!!!
And I take them at the same time everyday
like clock work. This has just really
been on my mind. Any help would be
appreciated. Thanks!

I am no Dr., but it sounds to me that you
might need an adjustment in your b/c, I
might suggest that you talk with your Dr.,
and possibly use some condoms during sex
until you get some answers.
Sincerely,

Recent Problems With Ortho Cyclen, Too Posted: 07-22-04 14:50pm
Have you started a new medication? This
could also affect menstrual problems on
the pill. I've been on ortho-cyclen for a
few years, no problems, then I started a
calcium channel blocker for a heart
problem a few days before I was supposed
to get my period--i spotted, then nothing.
I finally had a period the next month.
And unless it's the second coming I
definitely am not pregnant. I would wait
it out one more cycle (these things do
happen every once and a while) and if it
hasn't resolved itself i'd make an
appointment to meet with your gyno--he or
she has seen all this before and i'm sure
this is a common problem (i've had it
happen a few times myself).

Low estrogen bc pills have a high tendoncy
to produce mid-cycle or break through
bleeding. I had that problem with the lo
pills.. I kept getting spotting and it
would mess my cycle up. I would give it
another month or two first to see it it
evens itself out or not. Your body is
probably just getting used to the lower
hormones.
