New Pill User Here--some Questions? Posted: 07-24-04 14:13pm
Hi there. My doctor prescribed me
norinyl. I've never been on birth
control before, I started my period a few
days ago, and so I begin taking the actual
pills tomorrow.
First of all, is anyone here on norinyl,
and if so, how was it for you? (side
effects, I know, vary from person to
person, but just so I can get a bit of an
idea)
also, I know you're supposed to take the
pill at the same time every day, but is
there a sort of margin that I should be
aware of? This question seems silly to
me, but i'm really curious. Everyone
just says "take it at the same time," but
i'm asking about the specifics. For
example, if I decide to take the pill
every night @ 10 pm, if I take the pill at
10:30 the next day, will its effectiveness
decrease, or is that close enough??
Any feedback would be great. Thanks

Well, that is a twelve hour difference.
Like if you take it at 5pm every night and
one night you forget and take it at 10pm,
no big deal. Twelve hours may even be
okay, but pushing it a little. Just try
to take it around the same time everyday.
Within an hour or two.
But, if you do happen to forget, take it
as soon as you can the next day, and then
take the pill for that day later on. (i
hope that made sense)
i have never been on that brand, so I
cannot help with side effects, sorry.
But good luck!

I think she meant 10:00 p.M. And 10:30
p.M. 30 minutes won't make a difference
at all. Normally there is a few hour
margin. Just try to take it around the
same time every day. I normally take
mine when I get up in the morning at 7:15
a.M. But sometimes I don't get up at
exactly the same time (like on the
weekends) so it may actually end up I take
it anywhere from 6:30 a.M. To 8:00 a.M.

As soon as you take you pill late it loses
some of it's effectiveness. If you want
to be protected it is absoloutly
imperative that you take it on time every
day. "on time" refers to a +/- of 2
hours if you pill is a combination pill or
a +/- of 1 hour if it's a progesterin only
pill. Otherwise your pill is considered
late and the effectiveness decreases.
This is becase the pill keeps your body
from producing hormones, by giving you a
steady stream of hormones itself, however
you body is programmed to produce it's own
hormones, if you don't take you pill on
time, before the hormones of the next day
"run out", then your body may begin to
secrete hormones of it's own, leading to
ovulation.
Obviously - every one forgets every once
in a while - but see what you can do to
try and remember. If you have a watch or
a cell with an alarm set it for 10 every
day. If you do miss a pill, take it as
soon as you remember. You must take alll
21 pills in 21 days. Even if you miss
two, take them both as soon as you
remember.
Best of luck to you,
laura
