Unfortunately & while uncommon it is possible to have all the symptoms of being pregnant (even gaining weight in the tummy etc etc) when in fact you are not - it is called a phantom pregnancy - generally it happens to women who are sooooo desperate for a child that their mind "convinces" their body that they are having one - but one way or another eventually the truth must be faced.

Still I do think that you need to see a dr - discuss your symptoms, emotions, needs, lack of period etc & get tested in case there is any other medical cause but be prepared in case you need to see a counsellor.

If you haven't had your period since june 1st i'd definitley take an hpt. I would get a 3 pack, and take one in the morning. If its says negative, wait a couple days and take another one in the morning. Smile

Yeah, I would go get a blood test to make sure. There could also be just a bug going around and thats whats causing your symptoms.

Don't beat yourself up to much! I've had one of those moments where I made a stupid mistake, infact i've done it more then once. (i was a dumb 16 year old) some of those symptoms could be from a bug, but probably not the bumps on the breast. I have those right now, and im 23 weeks pregnant. So you definitley could be pregnant. Those 3 tests could come up negative too, that happend to my sister. So I would go to the doc to get the blood test to make extra sure! Good luck with it too, and I hope it turns out the way you want it to :d

I would definately go to the Dr. As soon as possible. You could very well be pregnant even though the hpt's you took were negative. Your Dr. Will do a blood test, that is the only way to know for sure. Just think, if you are pregnant, you are delaying prenatal care! Sad I know how difficult it must be for you not wanting to be disappointed. Also if you are not pregnant, it could be something that deserves prompt attention. I hope you take my advise. Good luck! Please See a Doctor
I am not sure if this helps or hurts, but yes you may still be pregnant. There are several possibilities. If you are on a 5 or 6 weeks period cycle (i am on a 5) then you can't gauge it like other people's 4 week cycle. For instance if you are on a 5 week cycle you would only be a little over 2 weeks late for your period. With my last child I had negative pregnancy test results until I was 7 weeks along. I took a total of 9 tests, all came up negative and were not cheap ones either. I even had a doctor at the emergency room (after being in a car accident) tell me I was miscarrying (i had yet to have my pregnancy confirmed by a test or doctor mind you Shocked I should note my husband's suprise when I had been right all along) because my hcg level was so low and he was comparing that to when I had my last period. My "miscarriage" is now 2 and watching noggin at the moment. Some people just produce a lower hcg (human growth hormone which is what the test reads) output than other people.
However I had all the symptoms and knew I was pregnant. Bumps on your breasts is very symptomatic. Also, there is a chance you ovulated very late in the month, which would put you only around 5 or six weeks. That always happened to me. With all three children I was never as far along as they suspected. You can purchase tests online very inexpensively and get like 5 or 10 in a pack. Order the tests that measure the smallest amounts of hcg, these are more sensitive than over the counter tests. Easier even, just go to the doctor. You may very well be pregnant. Either way don't stress out.

False pregnancies are not very common and there is usually a mental history related to that patient that is a bit more than desiring a child (multiple miscarriages, untimely death of a child or children, severe regret of abortion, spontaneous infertility such as the mutilation of reproductive organs from a violent rape or accident.

I suggest either way you see a doctor immediately. There also is the possibilty of a pregnancy which was not viable and in which your body is refusing to give up; or there may be an underlying reason such as an infection or worse causing elevation in your hormones leading to similar symptoms.

Good luck, keep us posted.

There was a story on a tv current affairs show here tonight about a young girl who was on the pill, gained some weight, still getting her periods etc, saw a dr as she felt something was "up" - dr said all normal - periods still regular then one day 7 lbs of baby daughter fell into the toilet!!!!!!!!!!! Dr was wrong & the girl said if you feel that things aren't quite right don't just accept what the dr says - insist on further checks!!
