I am a 50 year old woman who has had thinning hair on the crown of my head for twenty years or more. I am using minoxidel but am not sure that it is working. This has really affected my confidence and I dont like going out or people standing over me. I would like to hear from other who suffer from mpb men and women to tell me how they are coping thanks tealady.

Hi tealady

have you had tests carried out to see of you are suffering from a hormonal problem such as thyroid problem or diabetes?

Hi tealady:

i'm new here so I hope this gets to you even though your note dates back to july.
I'm a 42 year old woman that has also been experiencing female pattern baldness. I have thinning on the top of my head, receding hairline, etc.
I have also experienced several episodes of telogen efluvium throughout my life. Massive hair shedding that goes on for several months. I'm experiencing another episode of it now. It started mid-july and its still going on. Its just awful. I've lost about half my hair at this point. I've experienced it about five times in my life. A lot grows back but its never the same again. It just gets thinner and thinner. Hereditary hair loss runs in my mothers family so I think the telogen affluvium each time accelerates it. (thats my feeling about it.)
thats my awful story. How do I deal with it? Not well at times.Javascript:emoticon('Rolling Eyes')i cry, I stare at my thinning hair all the time looking for regrowth. I've spent too much time being unhappy about this throughout my life. Its hard not to be sad. It hurts. Its just hair but its maybe the second or third thing people are noticing about you. Right? I'm going on about myself but I hope that for just a few minutes you feel less alone with this problem. I'm sure you've looked around, but notice how many other women have thinning hair as well. Sadly, it helps me to feel less alone with this problem. Take care.

I have suffered from thinning hair since I was 20 and am now 36, my hair is still very thin, and over the years has knocked my confidence badly, I have had people staring at me, and my marriage has suffered greatly because of it,in fact to the point where sometimes I wish I was dead, but over the past year I have tryed to think positive, and not let it get me down, I have two beautiful children who are so proud of me, I was told last year I have an underactive thyroid so am now taking thyroxin tablets, so my hair has got a little better, it would be nice just to get up in the morning and not have to worry about my hair!!!

I ve just found some replys from a message I left here months ago. Im 54 and have been using a well know liquid that you put on your scalp day and night. I dont think it has done any good but im scared to stop it because if I do any new hair will fall out again.Ive always had fine hair and so did my grandmother and drs have said it male pattern hair loss.I have let it ruin my life, have no confidence and hate going out to pubs or clubs because I know people can see through to my scalp under any lights.I would do anything for a lovely head of hair and keep seeing women who have.Ive even thought of a hair transplant but I havent got too much money and what if it did'nt take?.Hope you get back to me its nice to know we're not alone, take care judy.
