Baby Baths

Okay I think i've seen it on this board and I know i've seen it on many others. I keep seeinn that people bathe their babies once a week or once every three days, unless they have a mess to clean, like food. But I plan on ginving my baby a bath everyday. I mean I take two baths a day and if it is really hot three, so why wouldn't a person bathe their baby every day I really don't get it. And this is not ment to offend anyone, but on two other boards I saw moms talking and complaining about how their baby is always getting rashes, and another about how her babies skin is always peeling for no reason, and one other said that her baby has oily skin, that looks "dingy". And I found that these were the same women who don't bathe their babies every day. And I said to myself "okay and they wonder why".

But for all of you that have had your babies already, why do you do and why? And for those of you who haven't had a baby yet what would you do and why?

Well I havent had my baby yet but what my doc told me is that its good to like, take a washclothe evryday and just wipe down ur baby, but like, if u bathe, as in shampoo and soap and what not, u could cause rashes on babys skin cuz its so sensitive and a babys not meant to be bathed everyday. Every 2-3 days is good but washing it with just a washcloth and no soap in between those days is fine. Thats just like babys clothes, they usually have to be washed in a special detergent cuz of babys sensitive skin. But all babies are different... So maybe some can take more than others??

I never heard of that. I know the first week or so you wipe the baby down because your not supposed to wet the umbilical cord. It's supposed to dry up. But I never heard of the rash thing.

I give kaelyn a bath every 2 days but we don't wash her hair at every bath. The hair only needs to be washed at like every other bath so like every 4 days or 2 times a week. If you give them a bath too much it will dry their skin out, it's also sensitive and not meant to be constantly washed, it's ok to give them a spongebath everyday, but don't use any soap, just wipe them down with warm water...Thats just my opinion though, I guess everyone is different, i'm just going by what one of the nurses told me =) good luck

I know we bathed kaitlyn every day. I mean, maybe if there was one night we were busy or something we might have skipped a day, but usually every day.

One reason I didn't bath my baby every day is b/c I didn't want to dry his skin out.

I bathed him every other day unless he spit up alot and what not, I would just simply whipe him down with a cloth at night before bed Smile
