Depo Provera Is a Poison
Posted: 07-27-04 11:00am

Hi guys

i've been on depo shots after my first baby was born, got only 3 shots and stopped getting shots in july, 2002. I got my period back immediately after getting off of depo. We've been trying to conceive the second baby since then and I had a miscarriage and a tubal pregnancy. If you go to depo users forum online you'll see how terrible thing depo is. It's a poison for woman's body. I don't know how old you are and if you would like to get the babies soon but please stop depo shots, it's the worst thing the woman could do to her body. It has lots of side effects and it's very hard to get pregnant after that. Some women get pregnant but some don't get pregnant at all. It messes up your system, causes hormonal imbalance, osteoporosis, depression... Ladies, let the nature take its own course. When being on depo we don't have periods. It's not normal, our body needs to function the way it was programmed by nature. My stupid gyn offered it to me and I didn't know anything about that and read just the pamphlet I was given. I started doing some research online about depo and there are terrible stories about that bc. We're still trying to conceive, no success yet. I got my first baby easily from the first attempt. Depo messed up my system. I got a new gyn. I don't trust doctors instructions untill I find some information about that, about pills or shots. Just think about what I said. Some doctors do what the drug companies tell them and they don't care about your health. Read more about depo provera shots online and you'll see how the women (especially who want to get pregnant) suffer from that.

I can't help but agree with you. But depo normally causes what I and many other people I know got-constant bleeding. If there's anything not healthy about not getting a period it's even less healthy to get one all the time. Luckily, I was scared the hell enough after the first shot to stop and I know take the pill. Anyway, i've heard a lot of talk from the medical professions that depo may be taken off the market soon, just like norplant was.

I wanted to get on the shot after my son was born but luckily, my ob/gyn didn't want to put me on it because I have a history of depression and she said it was a commone side effect. Doing this let me know that she cared about my well-being. And since then I have read more about the shot and I am scared of it! Lol!

Nonsense, if it werent' for depo we'd still be using the stupid pull out method and so far I have no side effects. I just got a shot today actually.

Bd, you have to remember every woman reacts differentally to things. Some woman are lucky and get no period and the experience is great. But for the majority of people I know who are on it (and I do know people on it and love it) they have had the worst side effects from it. Lots of bleeding, hair loss, weight gain, arthritis, decline is sight, depression, you name it. I cried everyday for 6 weeks on it. So much I had to go home, I couldn't even talk to anyone without freaking out. Which led everyone around me, esp. My boyfriend because it was partly his idea, to feel horrible as well. Thank god he told me never to get another shot or else i'd probably still be on it out of my own stupidity. My body didn't like it. Some people's do.

There's a reason norplant was taken off the market. And this is basically the same as norplant was.

I was originally going to get on norplant when I got on depo because they told me I had to have 3 depo shots before norplant but I decided to stay on depo.

They say hypothyroid might affect it but I have it and the only problems I am having may be stemming from my hypothyroid. So I wouldn't know if I had symptoms but should they be from the depo, pregnancy has alot more side effects and costs alot more too.

I've been on the depo shot for over 7 months now and my body has adjusted ok... The first 4 months were not fun (lots of bleeding), but now I haven't had my period in 2 months..

Norplant was taken off of the market because the "inserts" (for lack of a better term) were disappearing in women. This is obviously a problem for various reasons.

Depo provera is used in rapists and child molesters to control their "impulses". Kind of strange if you ask me, but maybe it is different doses or something.

If it works for you, go for it. But if you are one of those unlucky people who bleed the whole time, then it is obviously not worth it. I know people who have gotten pregnant on depo and ones who have gotten pregnant right after stopping use. Everyone is different and you have to weight the pros and cons for your individual situation.

I had one friend who got the depo shot and she gained 3 pounds in the first day, 20 in the first 5 and couldn't keep anything but liquids down for 4-5 days. Another was throwing up all the time and gained 25 pounds in a month, plus she had extremely weird bleeding patterns for that month and felt like crap all the time. Needless to say, the shot make be a "get it and forget it" method, but those 2 side effects alone are enough to keep me away from it!
