"it's Ok Not to Want to Have Children"? Posted: 07-27-04 17:50pm
What about "it's ok not to want to have
children"?
That does not make us "kid-haters", as a
lot of people think. That just makes us
responsible adults that don't want to be
tied down to having kids.
Nothing wrong with that, in my opinion.
It's better than having kids you really
don't want and then either ignoring them,
or abusing them.

I Don't Get It?? Posted: 07-29-04 06:07am
But what would be the point/use of this as
a new forum?? What purpose would such a
forum serve - although I have kids by the
way I still agree that it's ok not to want
them & that many people shouuld never
have them!!

I just posted an idea for a new forum.
It's like other topics or threads--like
minded people to discuss their own
thoughts and/or opinions on that
particluar subject.
Maybe there are not enough folks here that
want to be, or are, child-free.
That;s ok, too. I was just opening a
thread up for any of us that like to be
wihtout kids!
No harm intended!

No Harm Done!!!! Posted: 07-29-04 08:31am
Catnip,
sorry if I wasn't clear - i'm not opposed
to the forum & certainly wasn't
offended - I just don't see the
relationship between the topic &
ehealth issues. Which is not to say that
there aren't any, or that there shouldn't
be such a forum - I would just like to
know where it fits on ehealth as opposed
to say creating a group on msn or icq or
yahoo etc for like minded people??

I guess I just saw all the topics under
pregancy and having babies and thought
maybe there were a few folks here that
liked the chid-free lifestyle.
There are other topics such as the gay
lifestyle, etc and I just thought this was
another way of life, too.
Sorry if it offended anyone.

You Have Not Offended!!! Posted: 07-29-04 09:47am
Catnip,
you need to relax, get out more, calm down
& not apologize so much - you haven't
offended anyone that I know of!!
I do agree that there are alot of forums
for people who are pregnant or have just
had babies, dating, breakimg up, widows,
single parents, gay, etc etc but none for
the group you mention or for the group I
suggested - those with older kids(not
babies) who have issues.

Children Posted: 08-07-04 09:40am
Having or not having children is a very
touchy subject. Some choose not to have
children, some are not able.I wanted to
have children when I was younger, but was
not able.I am now happy with the way
things worked out.I have a wonderful
husband and stepson. My husband does not
want more children,so it works.I would
rather have him and no children than have
4 kids and a jerk who's never around.It is
very difficult to express that to people
when they ask why we don't have
children. Then they start on the fertility
issue.I do not feel I was meant to have
children and I have accepted that.I do not
wish to have fertility treatments and the
posibility of multiple birth.I wish more
people understood.Patty

It is a great idea! I do not have kids
of my own, and I have no regrets! I am
around kids a lot with my jobs, it is sure
great too come home to my animals! I am
kind of like patty, maybe I was not meant
to have kids either, of course, being
kicked in the stomach @ 5 1/2 months
pregnant did not help either, and I am
very thankful for my complete
hysterectomy, making it a for sure thing
that I will not have kids! Just plan on
us being bashed, saying we are not whole
and complete women by not having
kids(b.S.) we are more whole and complete
than women that have kids!
I do have a step-daughter and a step-son,
but, they are both grown and doing o.K.
I did help a friend of mine raise her
daughter for 2 years, when she had her
nervous breakdown. I saw my sisters,
brothers, cousins, friends going thru all
of their stuff with there kids, while I
was traveling all over the u.S.A., really
enjoying life! Working around kids and
seniors, I see a lot of these kids having
soooo many problems and these seniors that
have kids that will not even come see
them, this all is soooo sad! I do
realize that their are some good kids
too!
I do have three ex-husbands and I am on my
4th marriage, so I do know that the 3rd
time is not the charm(lol).
I feel this is a good place for us for us
just to shoot the breeze!
Sincerely,
sandy

Don't Want Children Posted: 01-12-06 13:53pm
Glad there are other people out there who
feel the same way I do! I'm 28 and have
never desired children of my own. Growing
up I did a whole lot of babysitting - only
one child was sweet - the rest were hell
spawn! (peeing in my winter boots,
beating sister with baseball bat etc.) if
I married someone with lots of money who
wanted kids I would have no trouble with
the pregnancy/birth thing as long as he
was willing to hire a good nanny! I just
have way more patience with foals and
kittens than kids (unless you are talking
about baby goats)! I'm ok around other
people's kids though - you know that when
you are sick of them you can just leave!

This Is a Very Interesting Topic Posted: 01-12-06 14:34pm
I was the mother who would have had 10
kids, had I not lost my uterus to cancer
at 25. But to hear these story's lets me
see the other side, and to me--who would
have never went child less--unless
medically I couldnt have them, finds this
very interesting. I do know a few women,
who might have not had any--had not
pregnancy gotten in the way.
But I also believe if a person who has
gotten preg ---who dont neccessarily want
children---should not abort, just cuz that
is not what she want. My opinion.
