Is This Pain From My Hips Spreading? Posted: 07-27-04 21:13pm
I'm about 14 weeks pregnant and i'm
wondering if this pain is because my hips
are starting to spread. It hurts to walk,
it hurts around my tailbone/pelvis area
and lower back. It's just very
uncomfortable. I'm on my feet all day so
it doesn't make it any better. Has anyone
else experienced this?

I really dont know, but I dont think it
would be your hips spreading. Your not
that far along at all and your baby is
still very tiny. Ive never heard of this
before.

Hi when my friend was expecting her first
2 babies, they wer always small and she
had complications the whole time. With
her third the baby was a healthy weight
and was very big considering. (i dont
know all the details) anyway her pelvis
started splitting and she ended up in
crutches and eventually a wheelchair
through the end of her pregnancy, shes
fine now though all back to normal.

I dont think your hips should be spreading
yet....Thats pretty much in very late
pregnancy and labor! But I have heard of
cases where the uterus can be tilted a
different way and that can cause back pain
and pain in the tailbone. Sorry I cant be
more help! Just bring it up to your
doctor next time you see him, or if you
are really worried then give him a call!
Good luck!

Yeah, I didn't have any problems with my
hips until the end of my pregnancies.
Then again, I didn't have to be on my feet
all day so I don't know.

Well lauren said something about the
uterus being tilted and I looked something
up and found that most women's uterus
tilts forward but some tilt differently so
yours could be tilting back and as it
grows, be putting pressure in your lower
back and hips. Have you gained any weight
yet or signs of a growing tummy? When I
was 14 weeks you could tell there was a
bun (well buns) in the oven :p and I had
alot of back trouble. I'd ask your doc
just to be safe though.

Well I have scoliosis as well. So i'm
thinking that might be a part of it. I
dunno. I've only gained 5 lbs so far.

I also have scoliosis and I had mines
corrected. I had surgery and they put
metal rods in my back to straighten my
spine and I was not able to get an
epidural becuz of it. But yeah, scoliosis
could be the cause of the pain, especially
if you haven't got any treatment.

I have hip and tailbone problems too. I
have very small hips (strait and a
board!!!) and a curve in my spine which
the extra pressure from the baby is
causing pain. I've had this pain since 3
months preggy, and I am now 6 months. It
will only get worse, and when I mention it
to my doc, he just says "well your
pregnant". Oh well, standing a long time
gets me hurting the most. I think for me
its my curved back (have two bad spots) so
maybe you should have your back checked
out, you might have scoliosis (sp??) like
me. I also can't help you on how to
releave the pain, cause if I knew I would
be a happier person!!!!
hope you feel better!!

Not to scare you but I had that problem
throughout my whole pregnancy. I was
barely comfortable ever, and it felt like
my baby was jammed in between my legs. As
it turns out I had to have a c-section
because my hips were not wide enough to
have the baby naturally. How far along
are you. I would ask you doctor.. I dont
think it is from being on your feet.
