Am I Slipping Or Is This Normal? Posted: 07-29-04 10:40am
Ok most of u know my past (well its not in
the past yet but im working on it) with my
eating disorder.. But if u dont, for
those who are newer or forgot, ive had an
eating disorder for about 2 1/2 years
now.. Struggled with both bulimia and
anorexia..Anyhow I did well when I was
pregnant until I was about 6-7 months and
I started purging sometimes again but not
frequently. Well ive been doing well and
everything and ive only purged 1 time in
the past 3 1/2 weeks..Anyhow,ever sence I
had garret, my appetite has dropped
dramatically. Im not sure if its the
stress maybe? But im hardly hungry, and
when I am.. I just dont 'feel' like
eating at all..Nothing sounds good either.
Which is weird for me because ive always
loved my food. Im thinking this is
probably normal because im busy now,
stressed and occupied by garret.. But at
the same time, I am still trying to get
off the 9 preg lbs I still have to lose
so im worried that its also my eating
disordered part of me making myself think
im not hungry, or that I shouldnt eat
because I do want to lose this weight. I
dont want to slip back into my old
ways..But I do want to lose this weight,
and I find myself slipping a little (not
with bulimia much) but I keep limiting
what im 'aloud' to eat because im worried
and want to take off this weight. This
might sound weird. What do u think?
Thanks!

Huni,
i think it's normal. But my suggestion is
like jennifers. Dont' make yourself feel
like a cow by eating 3 large meals. Try
small. Eat more often but smaller
amounts. You'll be gettin the food you
need, but not feeling like you ate too
much! It's ok huni. You can beat this
thing!

Before I got pregnant I was like that. I
was barely ever hungry, and when I was, I
couldnt eat much. I went from being 135
to 110 lbs over a period of 6 months. My
mom started to get worried about me and
was asking me if I was on coke and stuff.
I dunno if this is possible, but can you
have an eating disorder and not know it,
even if you are happy with your weight? I
think that you just might be used to
always feeling hungry from bein pregnant,
and since your not breast feeding anymore,
your not used to the always hungry feeling
from pregnancy, so you feel like your not
eating as much as you should be. I would
say eat smaller meals, dont watch what you
eat unless its like bad junk food, alot at
a time, or alot of deepfried/ fast food
stuff. Its ok to watch what you eat, just
dont limit yourself from calories that you
need. I bet you wont even need to try to
loose that weight. I heard from several
different people that when your pregnant
young, the pounds just fall off, and your
body goes back to normal (excluding
stretch marks, but they will fade over
time)

Thanks alot girls! I hope ur right.. Its
just hard for me because ive tried so much
and slipped back many times.. And a part
of me wants to keep my appetite
decreased...And im just afraid that if I
lose a lot of weight with my appetite
being like this, that I will end up going
too far like I always have.. But I guess
I just need to try and keep all my inner
strength liek I have been doing. I do
think alot of it is because I have so much
more to think about now, instead of food*
like my little handsome man
