Help Me Please... Posted: 07-31-04 11:29am
Yeah, I just got back from the doctors
office and tested positive for mono. I
have had these white spots in the back of
my throat for a week and a half. The
pain is so bad that nothing takes it away
and I haven't eaten in like two days...I
need to get back to work. Anybody have
any ideas what I could do or how long this
hell is going to last. My doctor is a
goon and misdiagnosed me twice...He won't
give me pain medication either.
Thanks,
-chris

Mono is different for everyone. When I
had it I had strep throat like symptoms,
bronchitis symptoms, etc. And kept
getting diagnoses with lots of different
things before I go tested for mono. My
friend on the other hand had it about 6
months ago and while she tested positive
she just felt like she had a bad cold.
The duration also varies from person to
person but you can expect have it for a
month to two months on average.
If you are having trouble with your throat
and eating, try eating only super soft
foods. I had my tonsils out last year
and found the easiest foods to eat were
mashed potatoes, applesauce, grits, jello,
ice cream, etc. Just stick to foods like
that until you start to feel better and
can handle swallowing other foods.

I had the same problem when I had mono.
My throat was so swollen that it was even
getting hard for me to breathe. My
doctor put me on predosone which is a
steroid and itmade the swelling go down
and I felt all better, I just had to be
careful to not use up all my energy.
Maybe you should talk to ur doctor about
that as an option?
